The range depends on the output power of transmitter, input sensitivity of radio receiver (varies from radio to another), antenna geometry factor and noise around you. Since you operate in the open then "line of sight" was not mentioned.

Nice video! BUT the antenna you used for the transmitter could have been even better! (GP antenna) The receiver is not exactly the best in my opinion. There are ready-made transmitters for sale on ebay solder one (or two!) Amplifier (s) behind it - Then the signal is more stable and in stereo also a lot of fun to make and to do. In Germany they are used for hunting, not sure if they're common in it other countries. But I just put my transmitter there because it's a good place for testing.

Can go even further with tones like morse code maybe 2 times as much. Voice is limited. Maybe next project is use digital tones encoder decoder speach from a digital processor to increase range.
