its like comparing a michelin tyre to a ling long tyre, they both appear to be the same but when it comes to reliable performance the genuine article will always come out on top, the only reason the reps work well is because they copied a perfect design lol, having boost pressure holding the bov shut is genius, and the sound is so unique, it reminds me of the 90s, thanks hks! i wish you would have opened them up to compare the internals, maybe for another video ? also, the weight test was a new one for me and that alone projects the quality of each, nice video!

They are exactly the same thing. Let's be realistic. What would a real the real difference a $400 hks bov vs a "fake" $60? Its not some overly complicated design. Its no electrical parts....and it only has 2 moving parts.....if you want to spend the extra money for the clout then by all means do so...I've had a real and fake on and their was no difference at all!

Other than the fact one company spent huge amounts of money to develop a reliable and performing part, one of the best performance companies in the world at that. Buying fake shit means they will no longer see the point in advancing their designs or coming up with new ones. The machining and quality is far better on the real unit, you do understand if the cheap knock off falls apart, that pot metal shit ends up in your engine, ruining it. I'm not risking my $20k dollar engine to save $200.

You forgot to mention the real HKS has low profile acorn nuts while the fakes have tall and high acorn nuts. In addition look at the casting line down by the base on the fake one. The real HKS is smooth because it’s made differently. There is no seam.

It seems to me the weight is THE biggest tell if its original or not. I'm going to go home and weigh mine now. I bought a fake one way back, then bought one from a speed site for a few hundred but, I've always wondered if the speed site charged me for a real one and sent a fake one-I wouldn't put it past them. The weight and, I've seen the cap screws that hold the base plate on (with the "hks' logo) on the end, the screws are lower height on the real one as opposed to the fake ones. The black one in this video however is a no-brainer.

mine can in real box.BUT the fakes all have serial on box and SSQV #402838.but shit is better then a blown out BOV..mine looked like his real silver but #402838 serial?$60 or $400-500..if fake dies you can buy 8 more....ohh and my fake came with plumb back adapter and PB stopper plug..so mmm black looks like real one he has with adapters and $60...
