Ebbets Field Home Plate Marker NYC

I did a rudimentary map overlay using an almost direct overhead shot of Ebbetts Field over a Google map showing the exact location of the Ebbetts Field Home Plate Marker scaled to the size of the picture and it appears the marker is about in line with the 3rd base line up in the first base Filed Boxes, some 20 to 30 feet away from where home plate actually was. It looks like the actual spot of where home plate was lies on the interior of one of the buildings.

I saw pictures of homeplate location in past located inside building like you suggest so when i saw this particular plaque it didn't seem accurate to me either.

I applaud the effort--its great that someone took the time and found the resources to make this...but like the Polo Grounds marker which says "approximate location of home plate..." this should have been the same...or convene a bunch of old Dodger fans like myself and others to really pinpoint the closest spot...my guess is this marker is way too close to where one of the dugouts were located...as it doesn't seem to leave enough room between this plate, the dodgers dugout, the stands/structure of the stadium and the street. ...this seems too close to the street based on the litle I can see..@@GeraldBacon-si5mx

The home ate marker of Ebbets Field needs to be cleaned up. I was at Ebbets Field for the last Brooklyn Dodgers baseball game with my late father & late Grand Uncle. I was going on 4 back then. I'm a life Long Dodgers baseball fan as my late wife of 31 years who was from the Philippines, my late parents,both sets of my grandparents, late grand aunt & grand uncle that lived in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn

I've driven past Ebbets fields apartments many times during my former working career in Brooklyn. I never knew about the location of home plate. You very well may be right about the actual location being different. Athough it's pretty cool for them to recognize the location of home plate its sad that its surrounded by an apartment building. Btw, I'm a Mets fan who grew up within walking distance of Shea Stadium. Home plate and the bases are marked and located exactly where they were which is now in the parking lot for Citi Field.

I need to see more video o the surrounding area. I have a very strong feeling, having been there several times. that the real, exact location of where home plate was, is not where this marker is. Its likely in a hallway or apartment and this was placed here not in accordance with facts but located along the lines of wishful thinking. As a Dodger fan, I applaud the effort but I would need to see a lot of that shows research and data that this is indeed, in the exact right place. Because of as I suspect its not, its therefore wrong and what was the point? A great deal--read like 80-90% of the Ebbets Field ballpark footprint in covered by this awful atrocious run down, horrid disgusting apartment building. that there just happened to be a spot open in the exact location of the plate--dubious at best. Certainly questionable and if I'm wrong, show me the proof its the right spot. I'm happy to be proven wrong if its is in fact, right.
