@@PurpleOnThree Tioga will cost you the entrance fee for Yosemite, though. Unless you bought a national parks pass. Right now, you don't need a reservation to ride through. Earlier in the year you did between 6am and 4pm.

Wow, I've never seen it that busy around Lake Alpine. Did you ride it on Labor Day weekend or something? It's been 3 years since I've ridden it. I think I need to rectify that soon before it closes for the season. Last time I took a friend for his first ride over Sonora and then back over Ebbett's. We stayed in Arnold and then went to a concert in Murphy's. Caught Don Felder, Ambrosia, Little River Band. Good show. Great ride. My friend (old college and work buddy) was blown away by Sonora and Ebbetts. I picked up the national parks annual pass on my recent big ride, so maybe I could throw in a jaunt through Tioga while I'm at it. Haven't done that one in years. Last time I did, though... early on (heading easterly) a wolf jumped up on top of a big rock on my right as I approached. I didn't get it on camera, unfortunately, which is too bad. That would have been an awesome shot. Nice video, knew you'd like that one. In and around the Sierras, NorCal has some incredible riding.

I have no idea why KZbin Blocked this. So I just found it. That is an excellent loop, Sonora and Ebbetts. It's pretty hard to pick between the two as being best. I rode Sonora Twice while down there and don't regret it. The Sierra Nevada's definitely at the top of any Motorcycle list. Thanks for checking it out. I hope you made that trip. We just got snow yesterday in Elko, Nv.

@@AdventureGlide Thanks. Probably gonna be 6 weeks of hopping around. Literally waiting for x ray results as I type this. I did all the main passes south of Tahoe except Monitor. Carson was surprising. I don’t think I’d ever done the full length of it before and near 395 is nice. Great fall colors in Hope Valley, too. Also between Mono Lake and Bridgeport as well as the eastern side of Sonora Pass, which I rode with a broken foot. It was still awesome. 🤩

I've ridden the pass many times, just on a bicycle! Great on any version of two wheels...
@AdventureGlide2 ай бұрын
Talk about a real badass. How fast can you get going on the way down on a bike.
@markbloom96172 ай бұрын
@@AdventureGlide Going east on Ebbets you can go 50 if you want down to Hermit Valley...going west not that fast, as it's more technical, not to mention you want to watch out for cars (and motorcycles ripping the road so going over the yellow!). But I do it for the up, not the down...Monitor is the real ripper going west down to the Markleeville side, wide open all the way mostly.

@@markbloom9617 You are an animal!! I can't imagine doing it for the climb. I was on my bike at the top of Pike's Peak talking to a guy that rode to the top. I asked him how long it took. I don't remember how long he said it took but I do remember he was waiting for his wife to come get him so he didn't have to ride down. I was blown away. Granted I'm not sure how well bicycle brakes would hold up to the heat and no real engine braking. But I would be getting a ride the other direction.
@markbloom96172 ай бұрын
@@AdventureGlide WAS and animal, now not so much...back in the day I'd head to M'ville every year to ride the passes on my own--didn't want to do them in the crowd on the Death Ride--so Monitor both sides one day and then the jewel, Ebbets over to Lake Alpine for lunch at the lodge on day 2, nice 65 miles with four good climbs. The 24% part up the PCT was the real mind-bender! Bike brakes work fine even if rim and not disc, you just have to take care on hot days to feather and give the rims time to cool between big braking parts. People tell stories of tubes bursting from overheating on braking but I've never had the problem. Nor Cal tip: if you like great mountain cycle loops Quincy to La Porte on the east side road is epic, then down La Porte Road to Forbestown and down to Oroville, then up through Berry Creek to Buck's Lake and through Meadow Valley back to Quincy. The west side burned a few years ago but is still a great road, and from Grizzly Pass on it's just beautiful, and no cars to speak of except for Quincy. And yes, I did the whole enchilada on a bike one time, and once was enough! I just ride parts now.

Why don’t cars in other states get out of the way?
@AdventureGlide2 жыл бұрын
I've always wondered the same thing. Probably because its the law in California. Or people are just less considerate. In other states its like people get offended because you passed them.
