It’s so sad to see such negative comments here. First, it must be pointed out that the “initiation” of new players into the Black Stars has nothing at all to do with spiritistic practices. The initiation ceremony is just an ordinary gathering of the players together so that new players who have just joined them can be welcomed into the team. There is no priest present. No libations are poured. It’s a plain ceremony with zero spiritual connotations. If you asked me, I would say the ceremony has some benefits: 1. It fosters a spirit of unity and togetherness in the team. The hope is that this spirit would make the players fight for one another and cause them to work together as a team on the field of play. We, especially, need this, considering that most of our players are assembled from different places for our games. They need to gel or bond together. 2. The happy family atmosphere will make the new players feel at home. Please don’t let us try to kick against anything the Black Stars do because of their recent failures . This is the time they need our support so they can pick themselves up again. We have to be patient with the team and their handlers.
