It's these subtle things that he shares that really make a huge difference. Like the angle of the pick and the close up on the right hand. Truly original and unlike most of all the other teachers. So valuable! Also, the whole vibe and taste in music is unmatched. Thanks a lot man. My go to channel from now!

Eric shows us things in detail like palm muting or foot tapping. Most other instructors who are not insightful teachers gloss over it because it seems obvious, but it is not obvious to beginners and even intermediates. All that in addition to he is funny when appropriate and serious when appropriate, chooses great material with tunes that are cool and demonstrate the concept, and he edits out the videos so they are nice and tight without all the fluff seen in other videos (which is a lot of hard work). Thank you Eric

Fundamentals. So important. Even for us old, experienced players. Every so often it helps to spend part of a practice session revisiting and retuning your fundamental technique. And, sometimes a tricky passage in a song or lick just needs you to slow down, focus on the basics and all of sudden it gets easier. Thanks, man.

The right hand will get you more gigs than arpegios. Or better tracks recording. You're right Eric...good gretsch for sure. I have a new cheap Chinese one and it's awesome. I also have a core model that is for ballad leads and double triple stop licks. Ideal way to play tight rhythms.... start young! Best practice for an eventual guitarist's wrist / right hand is as a preteen. Start playing bongos or congas. (I AM SERIOUS!) Those two percussion instruments play the inbetween (Syncopated) beats. Get off the 2/4 and get into the pocket with a hitch in your step. Learn some snap in time. Learn the inbetween with huge divisions of tempo. Then play guitar. Your right hand will be the key. Thank you Eric.

All great tips, as always. Tapping and bobbing along definitely helps me groove and it also seems to help keep me from tensing up. I know you're a big advocate of relaxed playing and in my experience, nothing kills groove faster than tension. Very nice Gretsch. I've been getting into those lately myself and just last night I ordered a G6118t, after a short time with a 5120 Electromatic. I've been a pretty committed Fender guy for years, but Gretsches have a thing and they sound so good.

Once again a fantastic lesson. Thanks Eric!:) cool boots btw....could you please name the brand?
I'm curious what you are using to get the drums isolated from these cover songs? I appreciate the body cues greatly! I've really been allowing myself to move more freely and not hold tension while playing, you know, like how someone comfortable playing guitar might do. I play acoustic and I often find myself squeezing the body of the guitar with my right upper inner arm against my rib cage. Just working on noticing this and relaxing.

@@dionst.michael1482 it's a Chet Atkins Country Gentleman model. It was originally like that when it was introduced in the late 1950s. At the time big body jazz guitars like that one were fully hollow and with amps getting louder they would start uncontrollably howling because of the feedback that the big hollow body would pick up being exposed to a loud amp speaker. In order to fight that they got rid of real F holes, made the top solid and painted F holes over it
