My Magicycle fat tire beach bike cruiser is all rigged out and I take it on my first ebike beach fishing trip. I wanted a beach bike for fishing and it looks like my beach fishing gear was solid and the Magicycle beach bike handled everything well ($100/$250 discount code below) - the additional weight over the rear tire was no issue - I am going to love this ebike for surf fishing! Nothing like a fat tire ebike on beach to power through the mushy sand. These bikes are not for kids. I recommend you be at least 18. Also, check that the front wheel quick release is tight before using. #magicycle
Sadly, I have to add an affiliate link for the ebike. I lost my iPhone in the ocean and needed to replace it. Expensive!!!

Good info - just got an eBike as well. Have you checked out the rod holders that mount on the side of the wheel vs the typical kayak crate set up? Not sure which is more practical.

Yes, they look like they work well. But, I needed the crate to haul stuff and the PVC is really inexpensive.

I made my small hitch fishing trailer with angle iron frame and added balloon tires to make them very easy to pull , now will look to buy a ebike to pull it on sand and can double my hauling capacity ... looking at magicycle prices now but so much to compare nowadays !

If you decide to get a Magicycle, be sure and use the discount code in the description. I have reviewed and used 5 different ebikes to date and the Magicycle is still my favorite. Why? It is the only one that allows me to customize how much power goes with each level of power assist.

It almost looks like you could use a trailer (with fat tires) for your bike to help spread out the weight on the back tire. Of course, then you would be tempted to take more stuff.

I used metal screw type hose clamps to secure my basket to my rack, much more secure than zip ties. The front wheel knifing in soft sand can be controlled by more power and maintaining your weight back on the seat more. Think like riding a wheelie. ¿

Hi, I haven't noticed any mention of tire pressure, I understand they need to be lowered to around 8 to 10 pound. I do have an e fat bike, yet to use it, maybe this spring Queensland, Australia. Also have you tried using bait sliders? one casts out a heavy holding sinker, then the baited rig slides down the main line. Cheers
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 2 жыл бұрын
I do not think lowering the tire pressure on a bike will make any difference since it will still be unstable. The issue is 2 wheels vs 4. Lowering on a 4x4 increases the footprint and the stability remains the same. With 2 wheels, it will still slip. Let me know how it goes for you. I have not tried the bait slider. I need to do that! Thanks for the tip!

Love you videos. Inspiring. I hope i can have your will when i get to your age. Here i can ride in a fuel bike on the Beach but i love your idea. How many hp your bike has? Electric engines has great torque. You can help with your legs the engine?

According to Magicycle, this is a very powerful bike. It can go up to 28 mph on a level road. I adjusted the setting to limit it to 20 mph to comply with the local law. I do not know the hp. You can see all the specs on magicycle.com.

How to you keep the wind from blowing your bike over once it's parked? I put mine on hard pack and use on old garage floor tile to place under the kick stand. Wind will knock it over all day especially if it's loaded down.
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 2 жыл бұрын
I use a Dollar Store cutting board. It is small. I put the kickstand on it and face the opposite side of the bike towards the wind.
@retnav92
@retnav92 2 жыл бұрын
@Kayak Hacks Fishing I'm thinking maybe a cheap Dollar Store small "frisbee-type" toy would work nicely on the sand. Invert it with convex side towards/against the sand.

I use a 12x12 rubber floor title to put the kick stand on but the wind will blow it over with the weight at the top of the bike (such as the basket full of stuff)

Enjoyed the video! Entertaining and informative. The segment where you were rolling up, down, and across the beach really demonstrated the abilities of the bike - I was also half expecting a chase scene out of a 70's cop show 🤣

Actually, I am not seeing that. I have over 200 beach miles on my Magicycle. I believe it is because I rinse it AND dry it with my leaf blower after every trip. Not a spec of rust yet. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4qypWaeid-jn68

@@KayakhacksFishing When they are around, I have no trouble getting buckets of them. Flounder, Reds, Black Drum, trout... well actually about anything else from the beach I don't do so well with. Except for hardhead catfish, those seem to be a curse which follows us around - like the rain cloud which sometimes follwed Ziggy around 😂

@@2reelyakrz481 Do you use fishbites or lures?
@2reelyakrz481
@2reelyakrz481 2 жыл бұрын
@@KayakhacksFishing Both, but depends on what we are fishing for and the weather. When we have fished the FL NW Gulf coast, whiting and black drum (and catfish) mostly bit shrimp or sand fleas on fish-finder and Carolina rigs (live, fresh, frozen, cut or whole). We've also used fishbites, and most of the time they work as well for us as the real bait - fishbites are definitely easier to transport. On casting spoons, heavy spinners, crankbait, and lures higher in the water column, I tend to get the predators which target baitfish (bluefish, blue runners, jacks, etc), but I'm nowhere near as successful with those on the beach as I am from a boat - probably lack of skill on my part
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@2reelyakrz481 Thanks for the tips! Seems like shrimp disappear quickly - every fish snaps them up. At least Fishbites has a longer hang time.

Good to see people are able to enjoy some sunshine. Still dealing with rainy, somewhat cold temps here in northwest Kentucky. Do you have the front fork locked-in or locked-out for riding the beach? Bike setup looks good.
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 2 жыл бұрын
I have it out. Should I lock it? I was never stationed at Fort Knox since it was an Armor post when I was on active duty. We did visit Bardstown frequently to see my Grandmother. Our family settled there in 1815.
@retnav92
@retnav92 2 жыл бұрын
@Kayak Hacks Fishing I leave mine locked 99% of the time, as I ride on an asphalt trail at the local park. When I'm riding an "offroad" trail (varied with hard-packed dirt, gravel, grassy mix) at a park a couple of hrs from here, I'll unlock the fork to cushion the ride and absorb the variations in the terrain. My dad retired at Ft. Knox around '66 as I recall. We still go to Radcliff/Etown area to visit family. I'm an Army brat who decided to go Navy. :)
