It’s pretty common for 750W motors to list a 80Nm output… but that’s just the MOTOR’s nominal rating. Actual on road performance depends on the controller (18, 25, or 35amp), the battery (36, 48, or 52V), and potentially regional restrictions placed on the program settings.

I live in a hilly area. I weigh 17 stone. I am big and heavy. Not overweight. I just built a 1000w hub motor bike. It copes well on most hills but it does not like the steep stuff with so much weight on it. I built my wife the same kit on her bike, she gets twice the range a higher top speed and better acceleration and never has any problems on hills.. She weighs around 7.5 stone. Literally I will have to run two batteries as a solution I think.

The ever increasing motor wattage is worrying. Seems only a matter of time before the Police start properly enforcing the law. I see ebikes going ridiculously fast, not long before the media jump on this and gives us problems

I know what you mean. Before getting the engine pro I never really exceeded the speed of a semi pro cyclist but now 1000 pushes past that speed pretty easily and of course some people are riding around on 5000w plus bikes that are basically electric motorbikes weaving in and out of traffic.

250w is more dangerous as u are slower & more likely to catch fire on a hill. 250w is useless anyway as most people can output more than 250w
@uncrunch398
@uncrunch398 Жыл бұрын
Aside from trying the worst hill in my area, my 350w gets me up to 20mph quick enough. I haven't been near that hill since I got it. Not sure I will unless I'm just curious. I won't be pushing for more until I'm properly protected from falling off. There are ditch drains around here that look like a person could be washed down after easily knocked into the ditch by traffic or a sudden gust. Or hit the cement just right to end them even if they don't go in.

Those people will have to deal with their own consequences. Most people can't break 15 miles an hour and the level of bike is easiest enough to find out. People who drive electric motor cycles are supposed to have the bikes registered and insured. So let them deal with their own problems.

To be honest there is so much illegal ebikes around the world that noone can fix it at that point. I think they should make every ebike street legal, because they are just weak scooters. But faster ones shouldnt be allowed to speed on bike paths.

Brilliant teat. This video should be essential viewing for old and unfit people who think that an ebike will do most of the work for them. You also were not riding into a wind, carrying shopping on paniers etc. If the UK government seriously wants people out of their cars and onto bikes they will have to permit 1000w motors, they can't just expect people to buy high end mid drive bikes of many thousands.

The problem is, when the ebike motor recognises it's under lots of strain (a steep hill) the ebike motor considerably reduces the power it outputs, to protect itself from getting too hot and breaking down, so going up a steep hill, the ebike motor outputs less power, than when it's on a flat bit of road. Ebikes are fair weather friends.

An interesting test would be to compare a dual motor to a single motor of the same total power, like 2x250W compared to 500W. Because a 250W is going to be geared much shorter than a 500W, I suspect the 2x250W is going to climb a lot better than the single 500W due to the lower gearing.

I need a bike that will climb a steep hill outside the village I live in. It's the only way back into the village. I hoped this video would give me some ideas. I don't know if it's just the camera but this hill does not look very steep. The hill to the village looks a lot steeper. At the moment I have a 250w pedal assist only folding bike with no throttle. I can make it up the hill but it's not easy. My health problems don't help. Problem is all the 750w bikes I look at are about 50+% heavier than my current bike so not sure if they would be better or worse on that hill. The hill into the village climbs about 120ft in less than 1/4 mile.

@@bobikbobikowy5458 I started wondering this when I was looking at similar tires, some being ebike rated, some not. Is there no option to set the voltage low enough in the controller you have? @Trillville43
@Trillville43 2 жыл бұрын
1. The first two were pointless especially having a 36v setup. 2. You compared two bikes with a 750 motor because the rating is based on nominal, not peak which seems to only be disclosed on the engine pro. That display will show you the current in amps so it's easy to figure out what the peak is on the other Engine bike as 48 x Amps = peak output. 3. Torque is meaningless because it can get geared for higher speed or greater pulling power so all these numbers are mostly marketing especially on ebikes sub $1800 USD to get business for a entry level ebike. 4. I have two 750w ebikes and one peaks at roughly 1200w while the other 1335w.
@e-VRC
@e-VRC 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure 36v means it's pointless since as you said in point 2 voltsx amps = watts and I'm only talking about watts. Also I think the test is interesting since it will compare manufacturer claims. The eskute is advertised as 250 but seems to peak at 500. The ado and ep-2 pro do not have an advertised peak which leads some to believe the ado also peaks at 500 so should be labelled less with the ep-2 possibly peaking at 750. The ep-2 pro and engine pro are both labelled as 750 but the Engine is a much faster bike and now Engwe have started writing '1000w peak' on their page. I'm hoping to test a lot more vehicles on the same hill so will be a good comparison of performance based on manufacturer claims.

Good comparison. Could you please compare Vitilan i7 Pro (80N.m) with Engwe Engine Pro uphill? According to an acquaintance who has owned both models, there is a big difference in uphill torque in favor of the Vitilan i7 Pro. Thank you.

According to ADO's website the new uprated A20F torque is 80Nm don't know if its a marketing ploy but that's double what the older one was, it would be interesting if it is as I have had the new version for two months now but on the same day it arrived I fractured my back so still not been on it yet, hopefully in another month I'll get to ride it, I'm really hoping it has a bit more torque than your A20F 😀

From this video the first bike had the biggest wheels: 26in vs 20in for the others. All things being equal wheels with a larger diameter should give a higher top speed but lower torque i.e smaller wheels should have better climbing ability.

It must be the bike's weight or what's going on? I'd like throttle only power for steep hill climbs. I've seen a few e-scooters fly up a really steep hill, probably no more than a 250/500 Watt motor. Torque is everything. I'm 6 foot 4inches and 100 kilos and I own the engine pro as my first ebike and I'm 65 years old. @@HitchHikersBlues hello HichHikersBlues, your welcome and I should have said engwe engine pro. I only have this bike for two weeks now and I am still trying to learn how to ride it efficiently. I found out today that the best way to hyper mile it and get the best range is to pedal it in sport mode at level 2 on flat ground, 3 on mild to moderate hills and top level 5 for the steep hills (35/45% inclines). I also can regain lots of electrons downhill in sport mode level 1 and 2. Here in Ireland we have a "cycle to work" scheme that's tax free and I saved 750euros . It actually cost me 950euros after incentives. One thing is for certain if you buy this bike, you'll never have the Hichhikers blues again. 🚴‍♂️👍.

Halfords are a bit dear for what ya get, but at least it's a shop you can walk into with comeback and human beings :-D Some of the websites are a bit shady I reckon. So much choice now 🤔

If we allow sport cars on roads then we should allow more wattage on ebikes. We enforce speeds on cars, not horsepower. The double standard is silly, especially in a world where we are trying to promote electric crap over gas. The best incentive a government can give other than raw cash is non-restrictive legislation (Eg what most people improperly call bureaucracy)
