Inspector George Gently is a great series but this episode was a stunner.Ebony Buckle is as good as it gets. I must have watched this clip a dozen times. A timeless voice and presence.

I'm half-way through watching Gently with Class again for the umpteenth time. Every time I've watched it, I meant to find out who this group was, but forgot by the time the episode was through. Heh. Which is why I stopped and looked this time. I'm not surprised that Joan Baez covered it, but a filker (JFGI), Frank Hayes, I think, did the funniest version I've ever heard. Oddly, I don't see the song on the album of his that I have, so perhaps it was someone else--definitely filk, though. It's going to drive me nuts until I figure it out.

It is brilliant. Not a group though as the chap on the right Nick Hendrix is Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter in Midsummer Murders. I think Ebony sings with her husband.

The very first Joan Baez song I ever heard. I was 15 and an instant convert to folk music. That was in 1962 and i still love her songs and go to her concerts. Now I think I am an Ebony Buckle fan too!

The stories are so well written, that I after that I have watched an episode, think twice or ten times just thinking about life. And the actors are awesome. I hope that ”they”, theTV, will show some new episode soon, if there are some new produced. And in this episode there was a stunning singer with a beautiful, fantastic, emotional voice.

Excellent casting, excellent screenplay, excellent acting in "Gently With Class" (as in most other "Inspector George Gently" TV episodes), but Ebony's voice and incredibly beautiful face finally made me buy the whole DVD set, best wishes to Ebony in her (I predict) stellar career!

My favourite detective old George Gently. Such a classy show. This episode shown here in OZ last eve(April 6 2013) on ABC TV had a bonus appearance - this Queensland music graduate called Ebony Buckle, doing folk music proud and making the show even more watchable. I'm skint at the moment, so I saved this clip, instead of buying it from Itunes. Fits with the working class vibe though clearly wrong.
