I've been leaning more towards eBooks as of recent, even though I've only read and spent a ton of money on physical books for the last two years. My reasons are that with eBooks, you have a constant source of light, and I love reading before bed. And, weight of a book doesn't impact my experience with reading it; trying to read Monte Cristo (unabridged) does damage to my wrists lol

Ebooks offer certain advantages. I also love reading in bed with the lights off. You can't do that with a physical book!

Ebooks are useful for things like selected letters and otherwise expensive wrist-wreckers. You also get the freedom to search and find the bits you want far quicker.

Classics heavy channels done well are a rare delight. Your channel is fantastic. Ebooks are my go-to. My library via libby to my ereader. Easy on my eyes and flexible font/layout adjustments. I'm very particular about what goes on my limited shelf space. I don't buy books I haven't read. I usually examine books I love in person before purchase. I do wish specifications like font weight/size, paper texture/thickness etc were attached to books somehow. A website with editions and their respective specs would make (online) purchasing more of an option for me.

I always prefer physical books Juan. The feeling you get when you hold them in your hands and intents you to smell them once a while is always a different....

I'm reading both. I read a lot of books from the library in ebook format, because I have memberships of libraries I can't visit physically or they only have the ebook, but not the physical book in stock. Also I have a Scribd subscription, so that's only ebooks (and audio books) as well. But I almost never buy them, I definitely prefer physical books then. I am a very haptic person. But the advantages you are describing, like e.g. fond, are definitely something that make digital content more accessible.

It is great that different formats exist so most people can have access to literature. I am yet to meet anyone who only reads ebooks.

In my case, I must confess that I prefer physical books because of the experience they get us to (its smell, its texture, etc). But I also must say that, when it comes to reading (and I’d say learning too) in another language that isn’t your first one, e-readers and e-books are such handy devices. The dictionary in it and the fact that foreign e-books are much cheaper than physical ones makes me love e-books, not to mention the light in the device and other tools. Actually, if I wanted to read the book I’m currently reading in a physical version, I would have to get it from another country and it’d be very expensive. So I’m reading on my e-reader and it’s been a wonderful experience. I guess both formats has its benefits and disadvantages. In the end of the day, it’s up to the reader to decide what’s the best for them.

Both formats have their advantages as you rightly point out. It is great to have different options and for books to be so accessible to people with different needs, habits, and abilities.

I bought my first eReader last year It was because I was ill and couldn't hold big books. In hospital in February and March this year I had my eReader and mobile phone to order the books and I started my #1962project in hospital. I grew up with only paper books and so still prefer them but I sometimes I can only get a book in eBook form sometimes especially with my current project the physical book is the only form available.

I used to get frustrated by books being out of print. I have started to think of ebooks as something more permanent and reliable.

@@JuanReads With Brexit, getting English physical books has got harder and German book suppliers naturally take longer so eBooks then become a practical option.

On the whole, I prefer physical books. Lately I have been reading on my cellphone because I can do it with the lights off curled up in bed wrapped in my bedsheets up to my head. I cannot do that with physical books. I wish I had a ereader for the mere fact that the screen is bigger and it puts a bit less strain on my eyes. Regardless, if I want to read while the sun is up I pulll out my physical books and if I want to read at night I use my cellphone.

I have also read on my phone, but an ereader offers a much better experience.
