As the hot summer approaches, there are people who get busy. From people who harvest seaweed stuck on the rocks with strong waves to convey the taste of the summer sea to people who wake up early in the morning and sweat without even noticing the heat to harvest corn, a famous summer snack! Let’s go meet people who work day and night to harvest the precious gifts of midsummer. Wild seaweed that can only be obtained by fighting against strong waves Cheongdeungdo (靑藤島), which can be reached by taking a boat for about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Jindo, Jeollanam-do. The residents of Cheongdeungdo are busy without rest for exactly one month from July to August. The reason is that they harvest wild seaweed that has grown over a year while enduring rough waves. The weather has cleared and the waves are calm, so they finally go out for their first joint work. They prepare thoroughly with sickles and nets to dig up wild seaweed and head to a nearby island. From now on, it’s a series of tensions. You have to be very careful because you might get swept away by the waves or hit the rocks while walking on the rough rocks. Also, since it is work done according to the time of the ebb tide, you have to finish collecting quickly within 2~3 hours. That is how much 1 ton is collected in one day. However, they say they can’t rest even after collecting, because they have to divide the seaweed into 130 kg for each household and dry it neatly in a mold until dawn. In July and August, there is a truly endless war with seaweed. We introduce the residents of Cheongdeungdo who work hard to collect seaweed, a midsummer gift. A representative national snack that sells 18,000 pieces a day! Corn Corn, a representative summer snack, is so busy that 24 hours are not enough during midsummer from July to September. A farm located in Goesan, Chungcheongbuk-do. Their work begins at 4 o’clock in the early morning before the sun has risen yet. The sun gets hotter as it gets higher in the sky, and if you’re not careful, you could collapse from heatstroke. The farm we’ll be working on today is a whopping 6,611m² (2,000 pyeong)! Harvesting corn requires cutting each stalk with a sickle, and since there’s so much work to do, quick hand movements are essential. It may look easy, but it requires the skilled techniques of experienced workers. Also, corn leaves are thicker and sharper than you think, so if you’re not paying attention, your face could get scratched and bleed right away. After picking the corn, you have to immediately peel the husks and steam it in a large cauldron to maintain freshness. One cauldron holds about 500 corns! Steaming the corn while checking its condition in front of a wood fire that’s over 1,000℃ is not easy, and if you stay in front of the wood fire for a while, your whole body gets drenched in sweat. After steaming the corn for 1 hour and 30 minutes, it cools down for a while and then goes straight into packaging. But even before it was packed, the corn was so popular that the site was crowded with people coming to buy it. Let's go see the people who fight in front of the hot sun and fire to pick corn, a summer delicacy. #ExtremeJob #MidsummerStruggle #WildRockWisteria #Corn #JeonnamJindo #Cheongdeungdo #RockWisteriaHarvesting #JointWork #ChungbukGoesan #DawnWork #CornHarvesting #LargeCauldron #HeatStroke #ExtremeSite

뚜껑 닫아놓고 불 때는데 옥수수에 어떻게 나무향이 들어갈까요 ? 뜸들인다고 문을 열어놔도 증기 열때문에 나무향은 닿지못하고 올라갈텐데요??
