That is a little bit too close for comfort. Very good pilot who knows his aircraft!!!

Now I ask you this: If this pilot could handle his craft as calmly as he appeared to do, what of the police crew of the EC135 Euro-copter that dropped out of the night sky over the Clutha Vaults public house in Glasgow. 3 tons + of vehicle, crew & all. We're assured that there was fuel in the pipes, that there was no fuel shortage, NO may-day call-sign made over the pilot's com-link. Why were they hovering over a pub, and not the 1300sq ft of open road junction immediately next to the building, offering a further 13 feet of descent manoeverability, should they require. This pilot was a decorated officer who could make rotary bladed aircraft "sing" with his adept skills at the helm. I'm questioning his health record( a possible ischemic attack) or he let the female officer take temporary control of the craft, and in the process...set about an unrecoverable chain of events due to a unforgivable dereliction of duty in doing so. Remember, she had finished her shift for the day and was going home, she was hitching a ride along with another male officer (both were not air crew) only the pilot was aircrew in the party of 3 on board. The AAIB is seeking to cover up any & all veracitous evidence that would most certainly point to behaviour quite illegal in the craft leading up to the disaster. That is my view. Even if a helicopter has no fuel remaining to maintain lift, there is a tried & tested method of appropriation to achieve a textbook landing. We call this Auto-rotation. It centre's on the already spinning blades being utilised to arrest a rapid decline in altitude to slow a controlled descent. Dropping from the night sky over a public area is NOT in keeping with a fully functioning crew...for whatever reason. There are dead people who should not have been at any such risk. Currently, there is known just who and what to blame for this debacle. But it seems likely years to unfold before any person or working mandate in daily operations will be held justly accountable for their crime. Whether it falls to the pilots estate, the independent police complaints commission, or some other pseudo quasi board of reparations. We wait with bated breath.

+John Fisher What the heck are you babbling about? What does the crash of the police helicopter in Glasgow have to do with the air ambulance picking up a patient in this video?
@ralfquint21249 жыл бұрын
According to what I just read, the source of the accident was a pilot error, shutting the wrong fuel tank, leading to starving of the engine and subsequent flameout of the engine. And as the helicopter was on approach to it's intended landing place, it was likely not high enough for a controlled emergency landing. A completely different scenario from a landing on a quite spacious spot with a fully functional aircraft...

Ralf Quint Now, that's hardly the skill set of a highly trained military pilot is it. Also, why not the may-day com link. They flatly denied a distress call. They were approximately 200 feet above the pub, with 2000+ sq ft of road surface immediately to the side of the pub, in 3 differing directions of choice. Too many holes in this story i'm afraid. It's a pass the buck game of who's to foot the compensation bill. That's all this is.

Most helicopters have a rotor-brake so the blades can be fully stopped within less than a minute.

Damn glad I am not hurt, they shut it down and take enough time to show the guys the heli and shoot some video of the cockpit, then finally remember they had better get to the guy and put him in and get tot he hospital, must how we are going to start doing things here in America with Obamacare. Have to give a little show and tell to make a few bucks to help pay the bill or something.

We don't practice a "scoop and run"-system here in Germany.The paramedic and the emergency doc - usually an anesthetist - try to stabilize the patients as far as possible before the transport. This System (the "franco-german-system") works well over here, which may have to do with the population density, short distances an a well developed network of rescue helicopters we have here. Therefore nothing is wrong about shutting down the helicopter.

+neunzehn84 I've never seen a helicopter crew give a "show and tell" here in America. No matter what the story is, it just looks bad when they are doing it.
