Good comparison. I have been using ecamm for a few months so not really a pro yet and tried last week to bring on guest for the first time and it was miserable. My guest were using mobile phones and I now understand it’s not functional on mobile phones. Thanks for sharing.

Sooooooo glad I watched this video before signing up to a Live Streaming service. I have SLOBS, StreamDeck and an SSL 2+ audio interface, so E-Camm Live is a bit redundant for me. Also, I'm a life mentor, so, I need to be able to easily incorporate guests without a bunch of tech workarounds. Being able to stream to multiple platforms simultaneously is important. Didn't want to have to get a Restream account to do that. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Excellent. There's a learning curve but you get lots of functionality and flexibility in Ecamm that you don't get in Streamyard. I think you'll enjoy it :)

Loved this quick overview. I have Ecamm and was looking to see if there were benefits to streamyard, which it seems that I would probably use both at some point for different applications. I noted the comment about using a phone as a second camera, which I do in Ecamm but bringing in with a third party app (EpocCam) and can use this as an overlay. The nice thing about this is I can format the layout (am a piano teacher, so use this to show the piano keyboard across the bottom of the screen in a custom layout). The other feature I use a lot is the virtual camera, which allows me to use Ecamm features (scenes etc) in Zoom, which as a teacher, I am on Zoom every day. But I can see that streamyard might be nice for some projects I have coming up.

I wonder if you can give your opinion on which platform is more forgiving for bringing on guests who may not have as powerful a computer or as fast a connection as I've got on my end. My side of the interview nearly always looks good, but I've had problems bringing in guests on Ecamm without glitching or the audio sounding like giant robot monsters. By any chance, is Streamyard more tolerant of slower connection speeds or less-powerful computers?

Ecamm looks like a cleaner version of OBS. I just subscribed to Streamyard but it's definitely lacking some features that I'd really like to have. Overall, it's really user friendly though. If I livestream more often, maybe I'll need more functionality. Thanks for sharing this! -Ed

Hey Ed, my experience is that Ecamm has more features than Streamyard. And this is useful if you want/need to use them. You could always do a trial of Ecamm to see if it really is what you expect and that it works for you. ☺️

I use eCamm live to the the overlay for this livestream :) The overlays are a series of images as well as animated .mov files I've created.

Thank for this! It's great! I use Streamyard now for our livestreams and then download the audio for the podcast version. However, I can't download individual audio tracks (I don't want to pay for the professional plan) I'm thinking of making the switch to Ecamm. I saw that there is a plug-in avail to download individual tracks. Anyone ever done that, is it easy? I also like the ability to change audio and fidget with the lighting on the guests. However, I always have two people on the stream with me...is it hard to have guests all the time or can I create like a template that I just plug and play every week? Thanks for the help!

Hey Bryan! Ecamm allows you to split audio tracks and it's now inbuilt within their software, so you just select the setting and you're good to go. It's super easy and this feature was just released a few weeks ago. It's also super easy to set up a template for your guest. They call it "scenes" in Ecamm and it's super easy and you can just select it for each livestream. I love Streamyard but I do think eCamm gives you more flexibility with layouts (and other things). Can you invite multiple guests into a waiting room in Ecamm and then select them to join the stream then take them off and select someone else? I need participants in standby mode to bring in at the right time. Thanks!

Yes, you can do that. There's a little bit of set up involved but it's possible and works smoothly.

Can ecamm allow two computers to work on the same session, or is it only able to be run on a single computer? I may have a situation where I'll need another team member collaborating with me on a live event and we both need access to the same screen and controls but in different locations.

What you're looking to do is hard with Ecamm at the moment. It sounds like you want to have 2 remote producers to manage the livestream behind the scenes if I'm understanding correctly. This is tricky in Ecamm alone and there's no easy way to do it at the moment.
