I use rubber bands. Not the thin ones. The thicker heavy duty ones. Works really well. Put about 2 of them on a fresh new flat brim and leave overnight or a couple days. The curve will be even and perfect.

Best way to curve a straight brim is using a spray can and wrapping it around with a rubber band. But yeah you need to curve the sides still so be careful not to break the brim. Perfect results 100% of the time.

When I was a kid in little league we would wet the hat with a garden hose,put a rubber band on the brim and wear it to practice.After it dried in the sun they had the perfect curve and fit.

If your curve flattens back out try what i do. I get a glass, coffee mug, Snapple bottle, whatever size you want your bend to be, a large rubber band or Velcro wire ties long enough to wrap around the bill and bottle/glass. I place the bottle in the middle of the bill and carefully bend the bill around the bottle. Once im sure the bend is even I wrap the bill and bottle tightly with the velcro straps. Now the next step is crucial. I went my hand and pat it on the bill. I wet and pat the bill until it is wet but not soggy. You just want the material on the top of the bill to hold water so that it will absorb slowly into the cardboard of the bill as it dries which causes it to reshape and hold that shape. The water doesn't hurt or stain the cap. Let it dry overnight and your good. The curve will flatten slightly with wear but you can try a smaller glass to get the curve you want.

I think he meant to say going a size up, not down. When you bend your brim it tends to go fit a little tighter. I’m a size 3/8 but since I started bending my brims I noticed they fit more snug. I eventually just started buying 1/2 now.
