As an equestrian myself, when Elton said "he's rearing up still" made me laugh so hard. He's just resting. When Colby fell off the horse just stepped to the side and because you don't want to start anyone on English saddles they didn't have anything to hold on to. Ok my thoughts on this: honestly, the horse riding was a good idea, and it’s something that they seemed to enjoy. But, the instructor didn’t seem to go over any basic training for the boys, and the horses were a bit advanced for them. That being said, if the “instructor” had given them basic training BEFORE he let the boys get on, such as how to get the horses to stop the way that they were trained (since some places train their horses differently) and what to do if the horse gets nervous it might’ve been a bit better. I believe that they should’ve been on more quieter horses that are better for beginners, and that was completely on the “instructor”. The boys honestly didn’t know how to ride, and they were just looking for something fun to do. Horseback riding is a great option! They just should’ve been at a place with horses and trainers who can help them with the amount of experience they have. Beginner horses (for places such as this) should be ok with the horses they are with, should be hard to spook, and should be well mannered. From my experience, older horses (15+) work well for this ☺️. Since they are more experienced, they tend to be less forward and on edge than younger and middle aged horses. (This is NOT true for all horses though... I once leased an 18 year old mare who was a hundred times more forward than the 10 year old gelding I also rode) Honestly, Colby should NOT have fallen off. I’ve seen people fall off similar ways and gotten hurt. He was very lucky to have landed the fall like that, and I’m impressed. Yes, the boys were riding wrong, and yes, there were definitely ways that whole thing could’ve been prevented. Here’s the thing though: the “instructor” didn’t seem to have taught them anything beforehand. They boys honestly just didn’t know better. If they were warned about some of these things beforehand, I saw at least a few problems that could’ve easily been prevented. Sorry for my rant 😂 I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I'm not trying to be rude but I feel like the man abused his horses. There's way to many ropes around the horses head and they saddle had spurr crops, spur crops are little Spurs on the edge of saddles and they work like Spurs only their a lot sharper. Their hard to see but it's visible really ell on white saddles and any light colored saddles but they are there. The horses had whip marks on their hind quarters too, hard to see but their there. I'm not trying to be rude just saying. Besides for those type of riding horses they shouldn't kick or run from their riders. Only abused horses do that because their scared of the humans cause they don't want a beating. I'm just saying

it pains me to watch this video as I have been riding horses since I was 4 years old and I am now 16 years old and I'm not being funny but that guy was probably not legit and as u said it got a bit sketchy and the way he was talking to u wasn't very good and where u went didn't look like he new what he was doing ur better off going somewhere that is a bit more professional looking with younger adults as instructors, also when Sam and Colby where trying to get close to switch the gopro the horses didn't like getting close to each other which could suggest that something may have happened to them either out in the field or when being handled by the owner which could cause this behaviour, also when Colby falls of that could have been for a number of reason: 1. Colby did something wrong 2.the horse got spooked 3. another horse caused him to react. so next time u want to try something like this I suggest u go to a proper place xxxxx

In all honesty, he's being a Kiwi. We're like that. Don't like it? Get off our fucking horses. If something pisses us off, we WILL tell you. I'm surprised they got to ride back after that. Also a LOT of places want a real Kiwi experience, so we're not gonna have Stubben saddles or the latest Hanoverian bridles or the Anky saddle pads on the big fancy Warmbloods. If you want that, go to a private riding school. They're $150 per person per hour and they won't let you film AT ALL, but you'll have the fancy "legit" looking gear. If it isn't hurting the horse, and it's in useable condition, we're gonna use it. And as for Colby? It was their fault. They KNEW the horses didn't like each other. They were too busy focusing on filming that they didn't see a VERY preventable accident. Considering how long you've been riding I'm surprised you didn't pick up on that. I like TFIL but I'm not gonna be biased. If they're in the wrong, they're in the wrong. Don't act like you know about our country. It pisses us off.

AriaVanner not once did they act like they knew the country. I didnt know that horses dont like eachother, because MOST PPL WHO DONT RIDE HORSES DONT. A customer should get what they're paid for and as a beginner they should be warned. If you as an instructor swear like that at your customers, *you* are the issue and people should go to more professional places. It wasnt a personal attack until you took it personally.

gosh i miss horse riding! i used to be able to do bare back saddle, and jumping. I moved to somewhere where i ant have a horse in my backyard so i really miss it and this video reminded me of it.
