Ooooh man, how Tony made this song his own, what a master. Keeping the original boogie while carelessssly grooving his own magic straight in mixing it up and creating goosebumbs. Damn what an inspiration. Crazy, Id wish this guy would live forever and play forever.

Saw Groundhogs several times in the 70's then again a few years ago in the Eel Pie Club in London, after Tony McPhee had taught himself to sing & play again after a stroke, with his wife on support vocal the band were excellent. I got a photo with Tony, who is a lovely man & very under-rated as a guitarist.

Hendrix was good at making a lot of noise but Tony McPhee was a musician. I was lucky enough to have seen the groundhogs many years ago.
@grahamt336 жыл бұрын
No, to compare him to Hendrix is misguided - he was no doubt influenced by Hendrix use of wah and fuzz but even there, he created his own, original sound - same goes to Tony's use of the Strat vibrato - quite unique And his songwriting at his best owed nothing to anyone. Love the man....!!

joe shaw, there was a time when a lot of the videos, from different countries about a wide variety of subjects, that i watched got 'dislikes' for apparently no reason, and so early on after being posted in some cases that it was obvious that the hater hadnt even watched the video. because it doesnt seem to happen now, i'm of the opinion that someone worked out how to hack the system, world-wide, without even watching any videos but youtube might have dealt with the matter - their system allows them to know who was doing it.
