Great video - I too was left wanting to learn more. Not sure about the comment that people in Idle may not be interested as there are a lot of ex Eccleshill and Thorpe Edge people like myself who live in Idle now.I can remember my mum sitting me by the windows in a Thorpe Edge flat watching the trains go by. Happy days and thanks for the video

amoulden LOL I know there shall be quite a few people from the area wanting to watch it - However, there is an age old tradition between the villagers of Idle & Eccleshill whereby, we prefer to give the impression that we're not interested in the others goings on. It's just one of those rivalry things. That said... When there was a major fire in Eccleshill a few hundred years ago - the villagers of Idle, Baildon and Calverley soon rushed to give their aid and assistance :)

I love these kind of investigations, looking to see what is left of old buildings and how the landscape has changed, I have done a little myself, but get frustrated as my patient levels are low, organising skills are rubbish and my time is non-existent these days. :( This was like watching an episode from Time Team and was left wanting more. :( :)

MrQuintonia Hi Chris.... This type of video has limited appeal - mainly to the locality - even the people of the neighbouring village of Idle wouldn't find it interesting to them. This is the opening video as the Megalicthys is the oldest resident of the area and was miss classified by the Leeds Museum as being discovered in Idle - the error came about due to the Leeds Philosophical party getting off at Idle Train Station - But I set the records straight - which is why it was important to establish where the old boundary line was back in them days (Haigh Beck - also see video From Pighill to Haigh Beck in 400 years). The CGI of Hutton School is also going to be a part of this production as is many other historical features about the village and CGI of other places and buildings which have long since passed into history - A history which goes back to the days of the Dooms Day Book - so plenty to go at. :)

Hi mate... im wondering if you can help... I'm looking for photos and info about the brickworks and when it was pulled down and turned into houses at the top of Wrose brow Road, windhill....

Now I know there are a number of photos of that area that can be found here photos.bradfordmuseums.org/ I was searching for aerial photos of the Bradford Canal - Shipley - Windhill. That pottery wasn't of any real interest to me but I did come across photos of it in operation - I know I saved them but can't remember where on my external hard drives - I'll have a look for you and get back in touch - Now I do know that Bradford Archives down at Jacobs Well have info on the potter as well. Hope that gives you a start ;)
