Industry experts have called for a comprehensive plan to boost the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) by leveraging the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL).
The Auditor General's Report reveals that 37 out of 43 industrial plots in ECER remain vacant.
Infrastructure worth RM4.03 million at the Ulu Tersat goat farm has been unused since 2011.
Universiti Putra Malaysia Associate Prof Nik Ahmad Sufian Burhan says poor connection, a lack of infrastructure have made the plots less appealing to investors.
Industry experts say the development of ECRL would be able to inject some life into the corridor.
Dr. Oh Ei Sun from the Singapore Institute of International Affairs says the central and northern stretches of ECER should strategise to see how it can take advantage of the ECRL passing through.
