Thank you so much for this super helpful video. You can’t imagine how much this helps me personally! I have some questions and would absolutely appreciate it if you could answer them: 1. did I understand you correctly when you said that it’s possible to take the BCSE again if you fail? Do you have to pay for it again if you take it for the second time? 2. can any vet in any country attest to the required surgical procedures you have performed prior to taking the BCSE? 3. can you please upload a video once you’ve finished the practical exams and inform us about that too? Good luck for the NAVLE and the practical exams!! You’re an absolute inspiration!!!
@catwalkdoctor2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad it helped :) You can retake it if you fail, and yes you do have to pay for it each time. I believe any vet can attest to the surgical experience, so long as they registered according to the country. In the UK every vet has to be RCVS registered to practice. No plans just yet for the practical (need to save up for it first!), but will consider doing a video about it after if I can. Hoping I passed the NAVLE 🤞🏻

I am however only at about 45% done with the flash cards (found in the premium section on zuku). I am scared that I don't recognize a lot of the questions. Hi there, I was told by a couple of friends I met over this time of preparing for the BCSE exam that BCSE was much harder than the NAVLE. What is your opinion? Thanks a lot for all the info you sare!
@catwalkdoctor Жыл бұрын
Hi! Personally, the NAVLE was harder because the exam was SO much longer. The challenges with the BCSE is it's a lot of content covered in vet school but less so used if you are now in clinical practice. So in this sense, NAVLE can be easier, but unless you work in mixed practice it's probably still going to be hugely challenging due to the different species.

If you want the option to work in a clinic which is not a university, then yes you will need to complete the ECFVG. I believe if you specialise at a university in the US you can then work only in universities so unfortunately specialising is only somewhat of a bypass to doing this.

I didn't really take any notes, just repeated the answers until I got them correct. There were some answers I knew I would not remember and needed to memorise (like reproductive cycle numbers in different species as an example) which I would take note of. Then these 1-2 pages maximum of notes would be what I looked at the day before the exam. I think you have to create your own schedule based on your exam date and what is realistic for you. I did almost 2 weeks solid studying, sat it mid-April and started studying in January but mainly weekends. Think it's super hard to give a timeline because everyone studies differently. Brutal exam, so best of luck!

Why u did not want to practice in UK and can u tell me the scope and salary in UK?
@catwalkdoctor2 жыл бұрын
Salaries range £30-70k. I currently work in the UK, but have always wanted to live somewhere warmer but still with a high quality of care to patients.

@@catwalkdoctor is it right I listened alot that in UK no specialization held like in America you become neurologist opthalmologist?and how much experience we need to get to 70k £ bcz i am planning to work in UK as vet and one last question how to tackle rcvs exam any tips any study guide?
@catwalkdoctor2 жыл бұрын
@@ifhamali2318 You can specialise in the UK, there are a lot of great referral practices for this. You probably need like 10 years experience on average to hit that salary, but it depends what you do as with all careers. I don't have any experience with the RCVS exams as did not have to take it.

@@dr.s.k.balodiya3234 I have heard of this option, but have no personal experience with it and therefore don't know the details of how realistic this is.

Great video, I benefited a lot from it, but I have a question: What are the sources (books & references) from which I can study for the BCSE exam? Note: I am from Egypt, thanks.

Glad you were able to benefit! I only used the ZukuReview website practice questions, no other books or literature.
