Echo and Reverb [Discover the difference]

When we talk about acoustic problems related to indoor environments we talk about echo or reverberation almost as if they were the same thing, they look alike, but they are two different phenomena.
The echo is a phenomenon produced by the reflection of sound waves against a distant obstacle that are perceived again by the person who emitted them
For example, when we go to the mountains and shout something, we will most likely hear the echo of the waves that hit another mountain and come back with a certain delay.
If ideally there was in front of us a mountain 340 meters away and we shout something we will hear the repetition about 2 seconds later since the sound goes at a speed of about 340 meters per second.
Then a second to reach the mountain and another second to go back.
Reverberation consists of the permanence of the sound wave in the environment, even after the sound source has ceased to emit it.
Reverberation, for example, is what can be heard from the reflection of sound waves on the walls in an empty room.
