Echo Bearcat WT 190 Trimmer Head Repair

This is a followup from the previous video. I wasn't going to film this, but then I decided what the heck; bring the KZbinrs along....

Nice! I picked up a WT-24 yesterday, been in storage for over 10 years, used once. Cleaned the magic crystals out of the carb bowl and jet and was off to the races. It came with the saw blade on it, I had to order the trimmer head, and your right, parts are hard to find, but I only paid $300 for it, so it was worth the trouble.

Good fix!! I've got one similar to it to work on, but I think it's going to need an engine.

I got interrupted earlier. Nice repair!! Old Engine with an empty gas tank🙄 unless you were actually welding on it, even if it was full. Nothing to worry about. Although, if you were going to cut or weld on it, might want to do something..... Got a neighbor who got to see what happens when his dad cut the top off a barrel that had been used for gas. Was probably 60 or 70 years ago. Barrel had been bone dry food a couple of decades. Old little single car garage/workshop, plus barrel plus a Man with a cutting torch.. Equals, man standing with no building around him, building parts covering about 5 acres, shreded barrel tried to reach the sky.. he said the barrel made it up about 150'.. his dad was in decent shape, could bruises a minor burns, was deaf for a week.. Pretty crazy!

Yeah, I've heard similar stories. Purge the tank, and then purge again!

@@mattthescrapwhisperer lots of guys used to use halon, but it's not like you can get that anymore.. other trick is car exhaust.. anything to displace any oxygen

Does the WT190 have a choke lever or knob? I don't know the last time it was started, probably years but I got it to turn over. It will start with a drop of gas in the spark plug hole but won't keep going so I figure carb. There is a rod from the carb that goes under the motor which I assume is a choke rod but can't see the other end of it. No diagram in the manual. Thanks

Mine has a primer bulb, no choke. Briggs engine. I’m betting that rod is governor related
