Great video, I did watch it when you first posted , I am going out today to look at a hedge cutter, long reach……. I had Sthil & Echo in my head but was drawing more to the Echo. I was going to consider battery but not sure as thinking petrol will cover everything for now. Only in my 2nd year of trading and still watching the pennies. I also need a strimmer for next year .

yes, I think a petrol long reach then possibly start building your batter gear around that. The stihl blowers are great with the AP300 batteries. Then if you get more battery equipment make sure they take the same batteries as you can borrow batteries from others machines when doing bigger jobs. We also have a battery strimmer. Ok for residential mowing jobs but I still prefer petrol for bigger jobs. Battery hedge trimmer is on our shopping list for 2022

Late to the party but thanks for this👍 I think it’s safe to say the brand you used to use hasn’t got any better. I get about 3/4 of a season out of a gearbox before it shits itself, typically when I need it the most😂 It’ll be a first different brand for me but going with the Echo🤞🏻

Looks a gd bit of kit mate. I havent ran any of the newer echo tools so let us know how it holds up. The newer stihl hedgetrimmer heads are pretty good if you look after them, regular greasing and keep em sharp is a must. 👍
@dagtailgroundmaintenance3 жыл бұрын
cheers mate. It's handy having old ones to nick parts off too. We try and grease before any big session and carry it with us. I must admit I don't sharpen regularly enough
@RJLgardens3 жыл бұрын
Yeh always handy having parts. I always have a spare head/ machine i can swap out or use when the blades get blunt so im not in a rush to sharpen it during busy times etc. Seriously dull blades are a killer on the gearboxes mate not to mention the hedges 😂

Used Echo tools in the past and they perform well, but don't like the engine set up with all the giblets hanging out. I use the Husqvarna 535LK pro combi and find it an excellent machine, possibly a bit heavier though!

I would never go back to petrol now mate. So many benefits although I do use the petrol if we’re clearing brambles or similar or rough areas.

Yes mate. Some great feedback from this video. Just getting ready to go out. A battery one will be next

Get a battery hedgetrmmer!!!!! The batterys last a suprisingly long time,especially when compared to the strimmers . We run Husqavarna long reach and the telescopic ,we have petrol hedge trimmers and they are just never used,dont bother with the backpack battery it just defeats the object of being cordless to me plus they're a large initial layout,we just use several batterys. Look forward to your new video about why you didn't make the switch sooner to less noise,less vibration , no pull starting while on ladders ,no fumes bouncing off the hedge into your lungs , no starter cord snapping and so on and so on
@dagtailgroundmaintenance3 жыл бұрын
you make some great points. I'm am surprised the battery in the hedge cutter lasts longer than the strimmer. I guess you can be charging on sites too. We do intend to go all battery in the future. I needed one fairly quick and there's a short supply of the battery ones at the moment. I'll probably be putting a order in this February.

My Stihl petrol hedge trimmer has recently packed in after 7 years. My local dealer also recommendeds the Echo machinery, I’ve got an Echo brush cutter and it’s great. Also a Battery Stihl trimmer but need a tough long arm for the hedge reductions. I’m very tempted by the 2620 model, would you guys recommend them now, or should I stick with Stihl, the new models Ive heard are not as good as the old ones 😒
@dagtailgroundmaintenance2 жыл бұрын
I have used Stihl and Echo over the years. I do prefer the Echo. I've had fewer problems with the cutting heads. We still use our 2620. If we do thick stuff we tend to prune it out with loppers first so we don't make the trimmers work too hard. Also, I have an older long reach and a small hedge trimmer for the rough stuff. You can see me using it in this video below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH6QmJ6ko9CDf6s
