We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning kzbin.infoUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

connect Optical-out from TV to Mini-optical-IN to Echo Studio (I am assuming you S. TV has an optical out)

RCA left and right out female on TV > RCA left and right male to 3.5mm TRS stereo female > 3.5mm TRS stereo male to 3.5mm female TS mono right and 3.5mm female TS mono left > two 6 ft. cables both of: mono 3.5mm TS male to 3.5mm TS male cables (one for left speaker, one for right speaker) > plug in to the inputs on your speakers. That is how you can use these speakers with your TV’s RCA outputs. If your TV does not have left and right RCA outputs or a 3.5mm stereo TRS line output then you need to buy an HDMI audio extractor with a 3.5mm TRS stereo output and follow from that point on in my cable listings above. If you want to take it even further, get an HDMI audio extractor with all 5.1 RCA mono outputs and get 6 RCA male to 3.5mm TS mono cables (12 ft. or more, depending on your needs) to your speakers. No, it won’t be Dolby Atmos but it will be Dolby Digital 5.1. For your reference (if you’re a self-proclaimed audiophile): I’m a cable builder, so if you don’t know what TRS or TS means, I’ll tell you... TRS just means “Tip, Ring, Sleeve” and TS just means “Tip, Sleeve”. It’s a way of identifying the solder points on the inner part of the connector which lead to the outer parts. The largest of this kind is called a Pentaconn plug, which Sony and Sennheiser are using now for balanced connections instead of the cleaner choice of dual 3-pin XLR or 4-pin XLR. The balanced Pentaconn 4.4mm plug is a TRRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) which is a better choice than the next one because it has 5 connection points where you have a hot and neutral for each channel plus you have an extra for cable or chassis ground! There is also a 2.5mm TRRS balanced plug, but since it only has 4 connection points it has no ground. The disadvantages of any TS, TRS, TRRS, or TRRRS of any size is that when you unplug it from your amp it can potentially short out your amp. That is why using XLRs or mini-XLRs are much safer. I’d show you a picture of my $80,000 headphone amp build but I don’t think I can post a picture in a reply.

@@stephenmiller2048 yes I did and I am still having issues. It definitely is not as simple as Amazon would lead you to believe. I have 2 wifi networks in my home for redundancy. Both have a 5ghz and 2ghz channels. One is a Samsung mesh and the other other is an old Asus. Both attached to the same modem. Apparently it does not play well with Samsung. I got audio shuddering at the beginning of dialog when paired with fire tv. When I changed to the Asus it the distortion stopped. Within the app pairing was easy. I ran into a problem when I restarted the my home theater setup. That is one 4k fire tv and 2 echo studios. When I started fire tv they would not reconnect and I could not find a consistent way of making them reconnect. They tended to spontaneously reconnect after 5-10 min which was annoying. Just got two of these on sale with two smart bulbs and two echo shows as freebies. I should've grabbed the firestick 4K while it was on sale but wasn't sure if I wanted to keep these vs Sonos one SL. The Sonos sound really deep and crisp until about 70% volume then the circuitry eases the bass to almost zero to prevent the speaker from rattling/vibrating. These Echo Studios lets you know about its lower note performance immediately during setup when it emits a low note frequency to adjust its sound output based on its placement in the room. The pair of Echo Studio's really outclassed the pair of Sonos One SL's that I got from Costco for 10-15 bucks more with sale price and the extra freebies. Now I gotta catch the Firestick 4K or Cube on sale to experience Dolby Atmos.

@None of Urbiz everything's nowadays is Dolby Atmos this Atmos that and you're absolutely right people are buying into this bs, I have a LG OLED E8 which has its own Atmos soundbar (virtual sound!)even though it does sound quite good it's nothing in comparison to with dedicated separate speakers being driven with some sort of amplification/AV receiver. There is absolutely no way you can get Dolby Atmos when all the speakers are within a couple of feet of each other, the system should be better regulated so consumers can understand the difference between Dolby true HD Dolby Atmos and of course at the bottom 'VIRTUAL' Dolby Atmos!
@awwbollocksthen13595 жыл бұрын
@None of Urbiz you must like being right because you're right again, I could have a $1,500 soundbar and it would still sound nowhere near as good as $200 stereo speakers even if they were purchased back in the 90s, stereo speakers do not degrade, I'm not quite sure about this modern shit though. Besides music is mastered in stereo (2 channel audio) so therefore Music should be music listened to in stereo!

@@-_-4463 I checked around a little and while there are cheaper Atmos single speaker units available now, p.ex. the super cheap Vizio or Sony HT-X8500, the consensus seems to be that this is simulated Atmos and that with the possible exception of Sennheiser Ambeo, nothing can make up for lacking multiple speakers and most customers and reviewers seem to prefer Sonos Beam to quasi Atmos soundbars despite Beam lacking Atmos. Setting 2 up for stereo works as advertised and isn't any more difficult than setting up 1. Sounds great. Tried it with the Echo sub but think it sounds better without. You can boost the Echo Studio's bass in the Alexa app which, to my ears, sounds better than using the Echo sub. Plus, when the Echo sub is connected, I had occasional problems with the sound just coming out of the sub. Restarting the sound source once or twice usually corrected this but didn't seem worth it to me.

Hi. I watched the echo studio setup video for Atmos but still have a number of questions (since the video desvribes the procedure of r one Echo Studio only. Then I saw your comment and thought maybe you would be willing to answer my questions yourself since you have already had the experience with TWO Echo Studios. I also have two but haven't set them upon yet for fear of doing it wrong. I am setting them up to the right and left of my 4K LG TV which I operate using a FireStick 4K and am a Prime and Netflix subscriber. I want to use the two speakers for Atmos when viewing the TV and also for stereo when listening to music. However, I am confused about several things. (1) do I set them up individually first like I did with the dot I'm replacing. . . and then move onto an Atmosphere setup?, (2) do I set them up simultaneously (is that even possible)?, (3) do I choose "stereo pair" or choose "cinema/ or theater" in the Alexa app?, etc. Would you be so kind as to provide me with detailed instructions as to how you did yours (or direct me to a posted detail). My email address is phillipsheeler@me.com. Your response would be very much appreciated as I am anxious to proceed with my setup but don't want to create problems by using the wrong procedure. Finally, did you set yours up just for stereo or for Atmos on both sides of your TV?
@holly86james885 жыл бұрын
@@phillipsheeler3228 Initially set each speaker up just like your other echo devices. Then set up "Home Theater", selecting your Fire TV (4K stick or Cube). Once this is set up, if you watch a video through your Fire TV device, it should play through the speaker. Assuming you have a subscription to Amazon Music HD, you can play music either through the Amazon Music HD app on the device or directly through the Echo Studio speakers (by using the standard voice commands). If you do the latter. the speakers will communicate with the fire TV and show the song name and album graphic (or lyrics if available).

I own a Dolby Atmos equipped recording studio so I have an incredible amount of money invested in seeing Dolby Atmos replace stereo as the main way we listen to music/film/tv... but this doesn't look to be a decent option. What do they expect you to do with a mono speaker for a 7.1.4 and larger format? Link 11 of them and place them around the room along with a subwoofer? Is it even still a cheap "budget" option at that point? How many of these do you have to buy before it becomes cheaper just to buy a low-end Atmos system and get better sound? We have an Echo in the studio. We use it to make sure audio will sound good enough on even the worst sounding playback devices (like Echo).

@@allthingstech Yeah I saw that but don't you think they are really downplaying the dolby atmos there?.. That makes me want to think the echo studios are basically atmos enabled so pairing them with more echo studios will definitely make them surround sound but by itself a single unit is nothing more than a regular speaker. The only reason I am concerned about this is because like i said i am looking to buy a atmos soundbar. So buying 2 or more of these echo studios may actually be more expensive than atmos soundbar. Hello, Dolby Atmos is a surround-sound technology that reproduces several audio tracks at the same time, providing the experience of multiple sound sources. Currently, Dolby Atmos works with Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus systems. Dolby Digital Plus is a compressed audio format that has been optimized for use with streaming services and features. It's currently supported by a wide range of devices, including Fire TV. Dolby Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus is the standard in digital streaming. Please note, all equipment included in your home theater system must be compatible with Dolby Atmos for it to work. At this time, Dolby Atmos is available on a number of Prime Video shows, including the Amazon Original "Jack Ryan". Third party streaming services, such as Netflix, do not currently support Dolby Atmos.
