The Dutch were fond of this show as well. I remember back in the early nineties one of our broadcaster decided to put another season on the air in the summermonths, when it was usual time for reruns. It was a well-watched show. My personal favourites were Bayleaf, Sicknote and Recall, and John Hallam. It was such good acting.

There was even a Dutch character(in real life Finnish), she came over on an exchange and started getting close to Nick. Though this was 96-98 so slightly past its peak

Indeed. The closest the show had to having a main character, a protagonist, when it was otherwise built around an ensemble cast.

3:10 *Recall:* "Not again, for God's sake!" There were certainly a lot of injuries to Blue Watch in this era - before this, Nick got hurt in a hospital shout, and not long before there was the warehouse shout where Hallam, Bayleaf and Recall all got injured.

It was also argued that this was when London's Burning lost its spark, when in fact it was at its peak.
@AirwolfArchive4 жыл бұрын
Who argued that? Show was at its peak from Series 4-9. Only weak one during that time was potentially 8 in places.

270687carl After, yes. Not before or during. 11-12 were pretty good, as well. But 10 and 13-14 were the real low points of the series.

Why couldn't they let Colin join the airport FRS? No need to permanently injure him. They killed recall off too, when they could have let the character retire. 😔

They were axing cast of left right n center, is such a shame they got rid of the eccentric characters ,it was a slow death for it
@AirwolfArchive4 жыл бұрын
No, it wasn’t. The show had another 3 great years after this. Dropping characters didn’t have much to do with it; except Sub Officer John Hallam, whose death had a reverberating effect across the whole brigade. You also have to take into consideration whether the actors *playing* those characters who were dropped wanted to continue *with* the show. Other opportunities might have come along; for career advancement, etc.

Season 1 -10 was brilliant, it can be pin pointed at 11 when it turned for the worst ,and sicknote was a beloved character and they killed him in a Chinese fire work factory fire and had no send off for the fans of his ,he was the last original from the poilet ,gorge is the second,
@AirwolfArchive4 жыл бұрын
satanic poet Series 10 was pretty terrible. They didn’t seem to know what direction they wanted to take the show in. They were becoming bored with it, as most of the writers and producers had been working on it for a good decade or so. Series 11, I’ve recently got into properly and the writing is absolutely fantastic, giving Sicknote and the majority of the characters real, developed and compelling storylines, with Richard Walsh (who played Sicknote) playing his first proper/personal Bert ‘arc’ since the series began in 1986. Haven’t seen much of Series 12 yet, but I probably will soon. I know that the show dived and took a turn for the worst in Series 13 and especially 14. Was no longer “London’s Burning”, but a version of “Night & Day”.

@@AirwolfArchive it just came un watchable straight after series 10, when that new gov arrives and nick gets made up, That series onwards was practically unwatchable, best thing was the changed theme, that was about it.

I hated the way the watch treated Colin. I thought it was a real weakness in the script that they just persistently bullied him and mocked him. Who could have stood such treatment? The pranks they played on him were so exhausting and long-winded for such a little reward. Malcolm at least showed some compassion towards him from time to time. The rest of them just looked like a bunch of idiots, a load of grown men picking on a young lad for years.
