Eckley is a living museum still tenanted by miners, their wives or widows and their children. Located near Hazelton PA. The Village was used as the film set for the Movie "The Molly Maguires".

My mother who is gone from me now, was born in Tamaqua. A true Irish Colleen. Her Father Ted, swore he would never go into the mines. He did not, but, his Brother Jim did. So many stories I was told. My Great Uncle Jim racing the trains as the fastest sprinter. Yes before Jim Thorpe. Painting the mules green on Saint Paddys Day for the parade. Cruel I know, poor blind animals. So much more.

I lived in Eckley ,,with my Mom and Grandparents..my grandfather was born there ...Paramount ruined my hometown....ripped out our chestnut tree my great grandfather planted....100 years ago........and put a freaking goat there as a prop for the movie... they brought a big fan in for wind ,,which broke my Papap's cherry tree... my Nana was crazy with the dust from which they spread all over the paved roads ..to make it look "true to life" well............all that glitters is not GOLD...........I am so saddened by what has happened to my "HOMETOWN"...and the people at the "Museum" Ha !! Lacking and they have no knowledge ............ Really !!!! Glad to know state $ is going to the uninformed ..........oh and by the way ...........does anyone know where the Eckley Cemetery is??? I do and why can't we access it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
