This is a quick video of our 100w solar kit set up on our garden shed. It was a kit brought from Amazon and a leisure battery brought from eBay. After a year it is still going strong and is being used to charge battery packs, which can then be used in the house to charge phones, tablets, headphones, etc. It has worked well, especially in the summer but no so much in the winter. The next step is to add another panel and then an inverter to run 240v devices via a 3 pin plug.

I am surprised you were able to do this video, I am amazed the shed hasn't caught fire with the way the system has been wired, the wiring should be fitted with crimped and insulated fittings so that NO bare wires could cause fire or harm to anyone. stay safe

You don’t really need crimped connectors, you can do it without as long as you do it correctly which in this case it hasn’t.

I agree crimped would usually be much better, but even then a badly crimped joint could fail leaving a cable dangling down or falling off completely, at the very least the bare cables should have been less bare and nothing sticking out of the charger unit, but to be fair even if the cables where knocked they propably would not short circuit each other. Nice video Mr Junk or Genius but shorten all bare cables for your own safety :)

Just starting my first Solar install an Eco worthy 1,360 watt solar system 8 x 170w panels to the side of my house, very impressed by the first panel that I have tested, open voltage circuit gave me 20.6 volts at midday and 15.6v as the sun nearly set even in shadow and facing away from the sun up to the open sky above. Will try to document the build in photos and a KZbin Video and then a 1 year video showing some stats on the energy provided. Thanks for the video, gives me some confidence :) Please see my other comment below about the wires on your charge controller, the bare wire needs to be shorter for your own safety :) Stay Safe

Does the solar panel only show up on the display when charging? It's not showing on our display, but the batter is fully charged, so I assumed the solar panel only shows on the display when it charges

I have one of these but the programming behaviour really doesn't match up with any of the instructions I'm finding across the web. I can coax it into showing me a few things like Po Co C1 C2 C3 L F etc with long and short red button presses but no idea what any of them mean. How does your unit react when you press the red button for programming?

Was wondering, if you pay £60 for a battery , and your only using to charge small items, would it not be cheaper just to use the mains, I want one of these for emergency if the mains goes out

Hi, love the straightforward video. Do you know if you can add another battery and panel to this kit? Thanks

Yes, you can easily add another panel, you just connect them together using the MC5 cables and then connect to the inverter. You can the. Daisy chain the batteries together.

Have you measured the actual wattage coming from it? I have a little 10w panel and it only comes up at 6.5 max in direct sunshine. so just wondering what you get in reality
@junkorgenius5561
@junkorgenius5561 2 жыл бұрын
In direct sunlight around midday, I can get 80w. This will then drop slowly down to around 20w by 6pm in the evening. So not bad really.

How many amp in normal day? Good video
@junkorgenius5561
@junkorgenius5561 2 жыл бұрын
The best I ever had was 636 watts in a day in June 2020, which I think is around 5 amps when converted. It is a 100w panel, but at most it generates 80w. However, in the winter it isn't great. It will charge the battery but is drained pretty quickly and will then take a good few days to return to fall battery without any discharge.

@@junkorgenius5561 amps = watts / voltage 636/12= 53 amps @ 12v dc; - granted there will be some system losses. Also, this is before inversion from 12v to 110v or 220v, depending.
