Erebuni - Urartian fortified city in Armenia

Erebuni Fortress was founded 3,000 years ago by Urartian King Argishti I. Erebuni located in Yerevan, Armenia. It is 1,017 metres (3,337 ft) above sea level. It was one of several fortresses built along the northern Urartian border and was one of the most important political, economic and cultural centers of the vast kingdom.

Amazing video! I cried so hard seeing the man at the end of this video -- "My mother lives here." He was trying to teach something so important to hear. I wept in my heart and soul for him. Too bad "the world" doesn't have time for such beautiful souls such as him. May the memory of people like him be remembered and preserved to "LIVE!" Also, I wonder what he meant by saying he lives in Moscow permanently BUT said he hasn't spoken Russian in a long time. What does that mean? Does anyone know?

Armenian historians are trying to connect the name of the city they call Yerevan with the name of the Erebuni (Irpuni) fortress, which was built in 782 BC during the reign of Urartu king Argishti I. The Erebuni fortress was built only for the purpose of military fortification, and no urban infrastructure was ever formed around it. Just as the Urartians have nothing to do with Armenians, the ancient Erebuni fortress had no connection with the current city of Iravan either from a spatial or historical point of view.

Армянские историки пытаются связать название города, который они называют Ереваном, с названием крепости Эребуни (Ирпуни), построенной в 782 году до нашей эры во время правления урартского царя Аргишти I. Крепость Эребуни строилась исключительно с целью военного укрепления, и никакой городской инфраструктуры вокруг нее так и не было сформировано. Как урарты не имеют ничего общего с армянами, так и древняя крепость Эребуни не имела связи с нынешним городом Иреван ни с пространственной, ни с исторической точки зрения.
