Great video! I was trying to decide if I should get the older version and save some money, or go for the latest. The update in battery technology, dual charging inputs, and longer warranty sold me on the new version. As an aside, I think the 110 outlets on the back on the unit is a feature, not a bug, as it helps reduce cable clutter.

I think the Delta 2 Max is the best option for most people. What is really great is that you can connect two different solar arrays to it. One could be pointed more to the morning sun and the other array could be pointed to the afternoon sun. This works great if you are unable to keep the solar panels pointed at the sun. I also like that it is portable at 51 pounds instead of the heavier Delta Pro or other large generators.

Recently I had the opportunity to run the Delta 2 Max and Smart Extra Battery for a prolonged nighttime power outage. Temps were in the upper 30's. I have a gas furnace, so I only need to power the blower to heat the house. The blower spikes at about 700 watts but runs at around 300 watts. It might run about 30 minutes per hour. I also run a full size refrigerator and small chest freezer which cycle on and off as needed. Most lights in the house are LED or CFL. Under these conditions the Delta 2 Max was estimating about 11 hours of capacity. 10 hours might be more accurate if we were up and using the fridge or microwave. Previously I would power everything with a 3000 watt Honda. It would burn about 3 gallons per day. Now with the Ecoflow Dual Fuel Generator only charging the batteries twice per day I would likely burn the equivalent of about 2 gallons per day, but only running for about 4 hours instead of the Honda running all day. The batteries and dual fuel generator are also much easier to set up.

It looks like running the generator for one hour a day together with the EcoFlow, will keep me powered continuously. I pretty much always camp in the forest, so solar panels aren't really viable for me.

I would argue that the dual solar input is an feature, if you put all of your panels in series, a partial shade on one of the panels will draw down the whole array, if you have 2 separate panel arrays one will still deliver. Also, on a camper, you could have the roof mounted array on one plug and a portable array on the other plug and use both, with different orientation you get more hours of sun Sadly there are no youtube giveaways for me living in Sweden, and it is quite expensive here.

The fixed the loud fans, so that's good. But some other stuff is still annoying me long term. Outputs on the back are dumb, and the buttons to turn them on and off are not placed well and hard to feel without seeing them. Mppt and inverter are not very efficient, my Victron setup charges faster from solar and the inverter uses much less watts. Bluetooth. It seems, for your pacifica, a simple double throw switch would have been a simple solution. Simple turn or throw of the switch changes from alternator to solar panel, and retain the much higher input voltage (though of course the alternator isn't going to be over 60Vdc and it's unlikely you'll hae enough panels on hand, in series in the van.
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
A switch is probably better than unplugging/re-plugging but doesn't solve the issue that you'd want to charge from both the alternator and solar at the same time so the D2MAX is a nice upgrade there.

I been testing my delta pro max 2 with 220w bifacial panels for the last 2 weeks and they can barely keep up with a 160w output, the panels only produce 168w max (houston texas area) for 5 hrs, 100w for 2 hrs and below 50w for 4 hrs that's when we have a mostly sunny day
@todd.parker3 ай бұрын
160w from a 220w panel is 72% of it's rated output which is a bit low, I'd expect closer to 80% of it's rating during peak hours - you never get close to it's rating in real world conditions. In general, I use 80% of rating x 5 hours of good sun a day to calculate the watt hours it can produce on a sunny day which would net out to 880wh so it would take a little more than 2 days to recharge a max with no loads attached. In short, you need a lot more solar if you want to run 160w for extended periods - that would be 3,840wh in a 24 hour period.

You can definitely use this instead of typical 12v lithium batteries + solar charger controller + inverter + etc. - the only thing is this doesn't offer high power DC outputs so if you have a fuse block that runs lots of DC appliances, it might not work for your needs. Otherwise, it's a much simpler solution.

My neighbor behind my house uses a generator when the power goes out (unfortunately too often in our neighborhood), and it’s annoyingly loud even over here! The EcoFlow Delta 2 Max seems like the best of consumer, but still not as powerful or convenient as the roof-mounted options - but DANG are the rooftops expensive! That's no problem. When you have this plugged into the wall and plug in a PC, it actually just bypasses the inverter and feeds the power directly from the grid to your computer. When the grid power goes it, it flips a switch inside to turn on the inverter and start using the battery within 30ms so the power station isn't really getting any wear and tear in this setup.

The workaround for the single xt60 input is simple, use a mppt and a DC-DC to charge a small 12/24 volt battery. If you buy a mppt that has a load port use that to connect your powerstation with single xt60 to. You can even programma the load port to protect the small 12/24 volt battery. As a bonus you can take your powerstation with you while still catching some solar into the 12/24 volt battery. This same idea can be used with home solar, just mppt you roof solar into the 12/24 volt battery and use that load port to, much slower transport the yield into the powerstation.

That's called "over paneling" and it's perfectly fine - it will just give you max power for more of the day which is great. 4:55 wonder if that can be solved with a y adapter that takes in both DC inputs on the 1st Gen
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
I thought about that but since there's only one charge controller, a Y connector connects both the solar array and car charger in parallel and in that setup, the source with the lowest rated voltage determines the voltage output of the whole array. That means if I connect a car charger (12v, 8a = 92w) and a solar array (say 40v 6a = 240w), you'd end up with 12v at 14a when connected in parallel = 168w so you're better off just connecting the solar array. Two inputs are an awesome feature. www.alternative-energy-tutorials.com/solar-power/connecting-solar-panels-together.html#
@TobyCostaRica Жыл бұрын
@@todd.parker Is that true with a Y in series too? I figured it would add the voltage and the charge controller just pulls what’s available
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
@@TobyCostaRica That article I linked covered that scenario but it's basically the opposite: amperage is limited by lowest source, voltage sums. That's why they recommend only wiring solar panels that are matched in amps/volts

@@Mau105 Just my 2 cents here..I get your frustration. It took me a few days to figure out whose XT-60 cable to buy to use with my Anker unit (they do not sell one, and the one they supply is not optimal for me because I do not use their panels) because I could not get an answer from anyone regarding the polarity of the connector and I did not want to destroy my inverter! Anker told me which side is positive and which is negative. I really like what they have done with this Ecoflow unit. I still prefer my Anker 767 which was initially replaced because the wiring was reversed on the AC inputs; all is well now. Their CS was great but delayed by a day each time I emailed them. An engineer replied to my questions and most of what I got from them was over my head (I am NOT an electrician) but I understand why Anker uses the technology they do. I am not pushing either brand because I think they are BOTH great products. Todd does a great job reviewing these things.

I have 3 x 220p Serial array at PV1. Often reach 499w input. Summer Late noon. I have 1x 220w panel at PV2. Often 170w input. Both array under 500w spec limit. The cutoff. You have 2 x400w. I would put one at PV1. And one at PV2. Both will have no cutoff. You get full potential wattage.

On a SUPER Bright Full Sun day my 3 x 220w array can output 560w. D2M will input 500w. Because of the cutoff. However when day more cloudy, or Early morning or Late afternoon my 3x220w array produces more watts via OVER-Paneling.
