Great video, I have both the Karin markers and the Ecolines and the Karin markers are handsdown my favourite. I love large lettering so I thought I'd love the ecolines but I really dont like them, they just dont work for me, my lettering looks a mess and they dont even feel nice to hold. The Karin markers just make me want to letter, and maybe its the firmer nib giving me more control but my letteing looks, well less like the newbie I am, and I love the jucyness of them and how easy they are to blend. What I dont like is that they seem to hate just about every kind of paper ever, maybe im perfectionist but ether the paper sucks up the ink so quick i cant blend or the pens feather and spider so I cant get a nice crisp finish .

Thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds like you love a firm nib! The Ecoline is VERY soft. The Karin markers are really juicy so I would recommend higher quality watercolor paper. Also after a quick search I found this: www.thebeginningartist.com/copic-marker-paper/ I haven’t tried any of those but I’ll be looking into them!

I bought the econoline brush pens because they looked so great when you wrote with them. They are super juicy and I'm still on a learning curve with them. Any pointers regarding using them??? Please advise! I love the Karin markers but can't afford them yet. Hopefully they will be in my future! Thanks for the video and you are awesome as usual!!!

They are very soft so they just take a lot of control. If you are very heavy handed you may need to practice giving the pen hardly any pressure!

I loved everything about this video 😭 I love ecoline's liquid watercolor jars, I need to try their pens now! Side note: I love love love watching real-time lettering, because it helps to reinforce in my brain that I do NOT have to speed with writing .. it's not about speed, it's about accuracy of my strokes... slow and steady wins the race. When you first started out, how long did it take you to learn to go slow and break from that normal handwriting speed? Or have you always been efficient at staying slow? Excellent video, my dear friend!

If you love the watercolor, you’re going to love the pens! They’re such great colors! And slowing down can be tough to make it a habit! I started with faux calligraphy and used it almost exclusively at first which takes longer since you have to go back over it to thicken the downstrokes. So I wonder if that helped me slow down!

I was just wondering when using any brush markers on watercolor paper, have you tried Arches Hot Pressed paper? It feels SO smooth that I'm curious how brush pens/markers would hold up using that watercolor paper instead.

I got the set of 5 but I liked them and wanted more so I bought a few individually. If you like a soft nib brush pen and you think you’ll like these, I’d recommend the larger color set that I linked to since it’s better price for the number of pens. Choose the colors that you want the most 😊

Great question! Yes, they will smudge much easier! I have seen some lefties who sketch out their piece and work backwards so that might work with these!

Yes Ecoline is very soft! I love Karin markers because they’re more firm. Also Kuretake fudebiyori are great. And for really firm I love Crayola broadline!

The karin brushmarker pro is soft but a little bit firm unlike the ecoline it is very soft

That’s a great question! If used on smooth paper, they will last as long as any other good brush pens. It just depends how often you use them!
