Thanks for that's a great review. We've just moved into a new house. Got rid of our massive Hi-Fi and brought Google Home speakers but it's not the same with no CD. It's good for Spotify. Any idea? Can you hook a Hi-Fi up to Google home speakers? Thanks

How do I save radio stations? I know there are 30 spots. I tried with "OK" and it shows P (then choose the number order). I saved but I can't change stations even after that. I still have to click for it to find automatically the next one.

Your reviews are thorough and very useful but what I find puzzling is your choice of female vocals to test dynamic range. Isn't this best done with music that features loud & crisp snare drums and see if the speakers accurately interpret those dynamic spikes? That's what I do usually -does it sound like a gunshot (as it should) or does it sound muffled and compromised?
@MotoGreciaMarios2 жыл бұрын
@@DJWRailroad There is no technical reason for the preferences you are stating. Dynamic range needs dynamic content to be exhibited (and appreciated) and soft music does not systematically feature this kind of content. Judging by the "hippity-hop" comment I take it that maybe it's the quality of music that drives the choice but this is subjective. Or maybe it's a choice dictated by the tastes of the target audience - maybe audiophiles with lots of $$$ only listen to jazz and classical, so the content must be familiar to them. If that's the case then... OK, I understand - marketing gimmicks have always been necessary for rich people, otherwise they're out of reach. They always go for the exclusive, special or unique even if they never need it.
@MotoGreciaMarios2 жыл бұрын
@@DJWRailroad Maybe I missed your points but I've got points of my own which you seem to be missing as well. There are important technicalities in sound and its production/reproduction which should be paramount in discussions like this but you didn't comment on them. And something else: a snare drum isn't used only in electronica. I mostly listen to rock, pop, and funk music (I'm 44 and I love 70's, 80's and 90's music) and you need it there too.

Is this the same as the akx110/100 in Latin America? (Please, look it up if you're not sure). Also, I have 2 8ohms speakers that sound very nice. Do you think the volume would diminish too much if I replace these tiny speakers with mine? Thanks in advance. Nice reviews by the way. Very thorough. Keep it up.
@ecologicaltime4 жыл бұрын
thank you. I checked the specs of the Mini System SC-AKX100 and UX100 and they are the same. They also look the same and the description of these two units is the same. They run at 4 Ohms so if you put 8 Ohm speakers on, they will sound softer owing to the increased volt drop. These hifi's are designed specifically for the speakers that come with them, i dont advise trying to get better sound by changing the speakers, rather look for a different hifi if you need better sound. 150W per channel (4 Ohm, 1Khz,30%THD) www.panasonic.com/caribbean/consumer/audio-video/mini-systems/x-powerlive/sc-akx110.specs.html
@sideskroll4 жыл бұрын
@@ecologicaltime Thanks. I'm not trying to get "better sound" out of them by changing the speakers. Its just that my current setup is like that. And I dont intend to swap the speakers for a couple of bookshelves "just because" :D. The system currently powering the speakers is an old AIWA hifi, that originally came with 6ohm bookshelves and its been working fine with 8ohms ever since I changed the speakers. So I thought that if the AIWA (an even lower powered system) could drive them fine this system should do even a better job at that. Finally I went with the LG cj45 just because it was a better deal in my country. The system looks like shit, but its more "powerful" than this one and way more powerful than my current system so it should work fine... I'm hoping at least... What bothers me is these companies putting out these things with 4 (3 in the case of the LG I went with)ohms system just so they can get as much "power" as they can out of them. What happened with the good ol days in which even the boomboxes had good, clean sound and were enough to drive 8ohms speakers... Now everything is made to "make noise".

This hifi is under-speakered. Thrown those weak crappy things out and put on a set of vintage mission 700 leading edge speakers..rated at 8ohms 100watt peak ..the results are astonishing for such a low end hifi

@@ImaanSingh84 thats just a fake its just decoration in front of the woofer. They sound OK but lacking in the bass a bit although there's no cheap sounding bass. One thing I noticed is the speaker boxes aren't very deep so that probably doesn't help. Anyway it's a great hifi with some better speakers

What's the point in having a loud sound system if it distorts over 50%...
@ecologicaltime4 жыл бұрын

@mindtraveller1003 жыл бұрын
All sound systems can distort over 50% if you push them beyond their limit. The important questions are what is that limit, and if it is enough for what you want.
