So basically with DPDT, it outputs 6 connections/circuits, but you have to crosswire the leads so it reverses the polarity, meaning you shouldn't be adding wires to all 6 terminals. Thanks for this video. I was looking for a very simple explanation and couldn't find one.

Hello and thanks for the video. I am trying to understand an issue I have with new push button switches I bought for a motorbike. Taking the headlight as an example: When I press the button in to ON (it stays in as designed) - light comes ON. Normally to switch the headlight OFF I would press the button again thus returning the pushbutton to the off position. However it doesn’t work this way. I need to press the button IN - OU - IN - OUT (4 presses instead of two). Any idea why this would be? Also, if I just touch the button(not pressed fully in to the locked In position - then the switch activates the light correctly - slight press for ON and slight press for OFF (no locking button in/out) - this way it works. Would appreciate some tips of what’s happening and I hope I explained myself clearly.

Hi I was wondering if you know what type of button I would need to wire up my motorcycle for a push button start. What I do know is the head light and the instrument panel lights run through the same button that starts the bike. The problem I have is that when I half press the stock button it disconnects the circuit that sends power to the lights and a full press completes a circuit to send power to the starter relay. It has two power wires, a ground wire, and a circuit complete wire the runs to the lights. I need a button that disconnects the always on circuit from the key then completes the circuit to the starter relay with one action of the button. It need to be simultaneous.

Hello, I have a SPST switch with a connector on it that has a brown, white and two red wires, how do I connect it to be used as interuptor switch for a single wire device?
@Astrosisphere4 ай бұрын
Helpful but I've now discovered that I need something different to all of those! What do you call a Single Pole Double Throw which also has an Off position?
@crazyforce1102 Жыл бұрын
what about when I have a switch where there is "on" down motion of a switch, then i have "off" middle position of a switch, and then agian "on" upward motion of a switch. Is that still considered SPDT switch?
@MaaZy_7 ай бұрын
That’s ON-OFF-ON switch. Mostly used in application like a motor, to reverse polarity. Meaning both + - has to go through the switch. It’s alternative of using a relay.

I am gonna use one of those spdt switches as a hi/lo beam switch for my motorcycle. I'll have the power for the LED headlight split to a PWM and then to the switch, and then straight from the power to the switch to flip between dimmed and fully on. That way my dimmer will be adjustable
@Adam-xk3ot Жыл бұрын
thanks a lot. Very clear explanation.

Question. With SPDT switch you said we can have 1 input and 2 output. Can I reverse it? Switching between 2 input and have 1 output?

🛑Great video. But, the example you provided for the DPDT switch is not what the switch is made for! It’s unrealistic to wire 4 applications (devices) in one switch just to make each 2 work together separately from the other 2. DPDT is made to be used in an open and closed wiring circut independently and simultaneously, as it can separate both + & - connections. Mostly used in motors to reverse polarity / rotation.

This is just a general analysis of language and accents, so please don't take this as a negative comment. To preface, as a USA English speaker I could understand you the whole time. You're first sentence lacked your accent then it gained a little. Do you make a mental note before videos to speak clearly so different English speakers can understand. Again, I heard everything just fine, thanks for the education.
