My favorite memory crossing the Nullabor wasn't the drive. We stopped off the side of the track one night about an hour out of Baladonia Roadhouse. My dad told us to look down at the ground and he turned off all the lights. Two minutes later he said, "look up." You've never seen so many stars.

Love this one Mate. I have only driven sort of this way once on an extended work field trip. I went from Canberra to Tibooburra. Then down to Parfield, across to Eucla. I then swapped out in Kalgoorlie while the vehicle went on to Carnegie station and Derby. It then headed back east via Mount Isa where I jumped back in. Finsihed off driving to Maryborough and back to Canberr. Sadly the only extended dirt we saw was Broken Hill to Tibooburra and back. But it was fun none the less. P.S. We will soon be doing the same trip so might see you out on the tracks

That was awesome Graham, I drove from Perth out to SA then north and back round to Perth last year and it was brilliant. Norseman is a great wee place, we ended up back there for a night after my old Rodeos fuel pump packed in just 20k's from Madura so we got to drive the longest straight 3 times, yey. Can't wait to do it again and see more of WA and the rest of Australia.

OMG! How enjoyable was this video..? Bloody Excellent!! Loved it. Love shorty too, she looks a beauty & a keeper for sure :) Hubby and I are driving across from Sydney, (via Nullarbor) across to WA, so looking forward to it. Awesome tips you gave on the way, hopefully we can do some of those stops you've recommend & I remember not to pack the honey in ...lol. This will be our first time traveling like this (cross country), normally we're just city drivers (good ones at that ..lol), though have ventured out that little extra into the next states (Vic & Qld) but only via main roads, no off road stuff. Now that we're older, we want to venture out more while we're still young *wink* :) Sad thing is, we won't be camping, my poor old body wouldn't take it :( Kind of wished we'd done it years ago now... but I'm sure we'll enjoy it, just as much as any traveler. Thank You for sharing this video with us all, I truly enjoyed ever second of it, now off to watch more of your Videos :)

Graham, I've got a few comments... I absolutely loved this video as the Great Australian Bight in my opinion is the most spectacular stretch of coastline in all of Australia and I truly do love the Nullarbor. I did work placement over at the Head of Bight Whale Viewing Platform near where you stopped. One of the locals told me about Koonalda and I visit there every time I pass through. I pronounce Koonalda without the 'L' (somebody will correct me if I'm wrong), so Koon-auda. That whole entire coastal area from Ceduna to Esperance is very 'soothing' for me, in that no problems exist in my life if I am over there. This is the kind of touring/4wding that I'm really interested in, not 4WD Action (I stopped watching a while back). In 4WD Action it feels to me like you're always taking the most extreme tracks and trying to get stuck, hence the rollovers, long recoveries and broken vehicles. In this video, you get out to some truly beautiful places mostly without using 4WD at all. In this video, it's all about the scenery, the history and the journey- your 4WD is there if you need it, but you didn't. In 4WD Action, I feel as though it's all about lift kits, 35" muddies and lockers and not so much the destination. That's just my 2c...

Being a 'pom' I love to hear about your history, for me those sections of your vids add a lot more interest. I find it strange when I see others comment that your youth today has been taught that your history is 'a bad thing' (My Day). To me teaching the next generation not to respect the past is an insult to those that made the country what it is today. In the case of Oz that means the Anzac's and all they achieved the world over is tared with a bad name. Your education system needs to learn to respect your history and be grateful. Then maybe your historic ruins will become respected monuments and youths will be volunteering to maintain them instead of defacing them. Grate vid, and as always grate commentary. Long live shorty :)
