Regarding 1.03 army role in natural disaster.. I was in India when major floods happened in my hometown, army came & worked tirelessly, we appreciated them but they never complained & never asked civilians to be grateful.. We are grateful/Appreciate our army.. but the most I am grateful for is our ‘constitution’😅 🇮🇳

An intelligent person like Khurram Hussain to say that the subcontinent did not have mixing of people from various regions and languages before the 1960s is really sad. He needs to read about the trading routes of Uttarapath and Dakshinapath, which met at Kashi. He needs to study the economic impact of the Kumbha mela, a gathering of crores of people, including merchants, which happens every 12 years, since at least 2,600 years. You can pick up the 1st century BC Sanskrit play "Mudrarakshas" set in 3rd centry BC Bihar, and see the diversity of origin of the people of Patliputra, and number of Prakrit languages variants people spoke. There is so much evidence of varieties of people mixing all across the history of India, that you can find it in almost every piece of literature - presence of Kabul traders in Bengali dramas of 14th century. Astrology Pandits who studied at Takshashila serving Kings of the Vijanagar Empire in far south. Such ignorance in Pakistani intellectuals is truly sad.

the fact that the indian sub-continent have some many variations in a single language, so much so that it’s hard for two groups to communicate with each other, would suggest that over the complete span of time in which people settled on this land different groups of people mixed. but for the majority of it’s history there has always large empty spaces between urban centres and non permanent garrisons, so it’s more than likely that a generation of people would loose those connections after they get replaced by the next one.

Bro you're either deliberately misinterpreting hus point of you lack the context to understand. Are you really comparing "trade routes" to mass rural-urban migration where entire demographics of regions and cities were being changed ethnically and culturally? Be serious man.
@xijinpig8982
@xijinpig8982 5 ай бұрын
@@hammadhussain3082 There has been significant mixing and especially touring around the subcontinent, especially among traders to sell their goods. In the Tamil Sangam period (Golden age of Tamil lands), which is around 200 to 300 BC, the city of Madurai (exists in the same name today) had traders from as far as Rome, Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece and Arabia trading there with people from various parts of India, who brought along their own goods to sell at a port in the middle of the ancient maritime trade network. Now to get to the deep south of India, one would have to cross thousands of kilometres and various urban cities. Mixing was far more widespread than what we think of today, especially among the trader castes. When it comes to Northwestern India (Kamboja, Punjab, Kashmira, Gandhara, Dardara, etc...) you add in the element of frequent foreign invasions, which would mix the local melting pot up even more but through violent means. That doesnt mean there hasnt been far flung movement across the subcontinent. I know you probably wont take credibility out of Hindu figures, but Adi Shankaracharya was a man born in what is today Kerala, and travelled as far as modern Kashmir Valley, Upper Uttarakhand, banks of the Indus River (Taxila), Maa Kamakhya Temple in Assam, the base of Mount Kailash in Western Tibet and everywhere in between to "reconvert" people back into the Hindu faith from Buddhism, which was the dominant religion in the entire subcontinent at the time. There are inscriptions in both ancient Hindu temples and Buddhist Viharas on the intellectual debates he had with various Kings and scholars on Dharma, Karma and religion, and these accounts were by multiple independent kingdoms across the subcontinent dating back to the same time period. How do you think the teachings of Buddha spread across the subcontinent from modern Bihar? People moved around far more than we think back then.
@indianperspective5053
@indianperspective5053 5 ай бұрын
@@hammadhussain3082 Did you read my post at all? Hussain was making a point that for the "first" time in history of subcontinent, people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds were living next door in 1960s. And I was rebutting that. There are stories and plays written over 1000s of years showing that it has always been the case in cities. There are Astronomy Scholars born in Taksashila, who lived all of there lives in Ujjain and Vijaynagar - in 2nd and 14th century AD - with intact treatise and written biographies. There are Nyaya Scholars of 17th century born in Andhra Pradesh, who studied lived and wrote books in Kashi. There are thousands of such examples. I mentioned Uttarapatha and Dakshinapatha because it is common knowledge to every educated Indian child that the intra-Indian migration has been happening on these routes since 2nd millennium BCE. And if you want to study the churn in ethnicity and culture due to institutions like teerthas - you should read the works of R C Majumdar, Sitaram Goel and most importantly Dharampal. All of which are serious scholars of history and politics, not semi-literate frauds like Hussain.

For 2 decades, I used to be a huge fan of Pervez Hoodbhoy. He spoke about things he truly was an expert on - science, higher education in Pakistan, the lived reality of ordinary citizens as non-state actors like TTP, TLP were created and lauded. His appeared to be the rare voice of sanity that questioned the water car. But then he has started speaking about things he doesn’t understand and just picks up talking points of Islami-leftists in India. He doesn’t understand Hinduism but speaks about it, not with a spirit of enquiry but rather condescension. He doesn’t understand the new education policy of India but says that Modi government is against STEM. Huh? Number of patents approved in India has risen from 9,000 per year in 2015 to 100,000 a year in 2023; ISRO budget has been quadrupled; private sector has been allowed in space; Digitalization of the economy is transforming life. I am not saying you cannot criticize PM Modi. But there needs to be a spirit of enquiry to understand why he is so popular. It is not just about support for Hinduttva which no doubt is a factor - but it is not the only factor or even the main factor for his support.

Excellent discussion. Those funny interjections are brilliant and absolutely necessary. I don't think India ever offered to help the US. PM Vajpayee took it to the parliament where it received limited support, mainly from BJP members. Although Mr Vajpayee was personally against it, had it been a BJP majority government, India perhaps would have gone in. All regional parties and left parties hate the United States. They saved us.

Khurram Husain is right that Narasimha Rao govt brought in the reforms gradually with long term in mind and built non-tarrif barriers : small example: Pepsi was allowed but was told to have prefix or suffix to the brand name so it was : Lehar Pepsi... Ind Suzuki ( bikes) Hero Honda... Etc..😊
@umeshnaidu
@umeshnaidu 5 ай бұрын
@catfish9391 Idea of prefix/ suffix to a multinational brand was to make the companies owning the brands to "develop" Indianness in the multinational brands...( Right or wrong is debatable...) And not give them a 'free run"... Although the rule was taken off soon...

This gentleman is suggesting that the pakistani elite has some kind of plan or sincerity towards the nation as a whole. This isnt the case. @catfish9391 they were not just optics.. these collaborations gave a transfer of power and technology.. these made Indian brand compitative in the long run . Hero was a small cycle manufacturing plant in Punjab.. now is the largest 2w manufacturers after splitting with Honda. Same with laher . Wipro or tata etc... these all were possible because of forced collaborations of access to the market policy Pakistan started with this but never took the next step

When a country has started 3 wars with you (1965, 1971, 1999) and conducted a covert war through terrorism for 30 years, when your city is attacked by your country as my beloved Mumbai was, when every attempt at peace whether by Vajpayee, Manmohan or Modi has been stymied through war and terrorism; you don’t have to be stupid or a victim of propaganda to be alienated.

fun fact : On 12 Oct 1998 Pakistan had only 5 days of reserve left. Pakistan according to PVT itself was only 7 days away from declaring bankruptcy. What surprises me is that people still have audacity to compare Musharraf with PPP/PMLN !!!! these jokers (PPP/PMLN/PTI) brought Pakistan back to bankruptcy within 10 years.

Also unhealthy obsession with manufacturing sector will not take you any where. Value creation is only in none-tangible asset's monetization and in service sector (add agriculture to it too). Focusing on manufacturing sector will further screw up economy. people like Khurram Husain are prehistoric dinosaurs who have not grown beyond 60s. they are still living in stone age.

in case if you are wondering about bankruptcy in 1999, it was announced on business plus show on 10 Oct 1999. which used to come after PVT News.

Government to koi nahin aie, although the establishment is not entirely to blame for that, every democratic government that has come has only followed one agenda, make you and your friends happy and wealthy, only that, nothing else. This guy is an economist? It is a joke when he says Pakistan was doing very good till 80s with 6% growth rate. He doesn't know that GDP rate was not due to industrial growth but due to American dollars and foreign aid. It looks he has not done his homework. Pakistan had to go to IMF first in 1958 and they have been begging since then every 3 to 5 years for 23 times. He is forgetting India got IMF help only once that to in 1991 not between 60 to 90 when this guy is boasting of Pakistan economy.
