With the economy transitioning, I think there’s a lot of potential for growth in emerging industries. The shift towards clean energy, AI, and sustainable practices could create exciting investment opportunities.

I get that, but the uncertainty is what worries me. During transitions, there’s always a lot of volatility, and some industries may not survive the shift. Think about how many businesses failed during previous economic downturns. Rising interest rates, inflation, and geopolitical risks could make things worse.

It's hard to predict how all this will play out, and I think a lot of people could lose money if they’re not careful. Even though there are opportunities, the risks seem just as high, if not higher

That’s a good point. But maybe that’s where having a well-diversified portfolio could help manage some of that risk. I imagine that balancing investments in both traditional sectors and emerging ones might smooth out some of the volatility

There is an equal market chance associated with each crash or collapse. I have seen people accumulate up to $1 million during a crisis, and even make it work in a strong economy if they are prepared and well-informed. Without a doubt, the bubble/collapse is making someone wealthy.

Given the persisting global economic crisis, it's essential for individuals to focus on diversifying their income streams independent of governmental reliance. This involves exploring options such as stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the adversity in the economy, now is an opportune moment to contemplate these investment avenues.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

@@jerryday8817 In terms of kids not wanting to work anymore. I don't think that is specific to Canadians. The internet has been disruptive to the job market. There are just more opportunities now a days to make money. Gone are the days of being forced to sit in a cubicle for 8 hours, because you're trying to justify your college degree. As far as the Canadian health care system. It's not perfect. But when compared to other developed countries around the world. It's fair to say, its copacetic at best.

economics is a prerequisite for life, the liberties and lifestyles we take for granted. Yes we should have an economy to live and not live for the economy. But if your economy gets bad enough then all the things everyone has grown accustomed to, sanitation, energy, infrastructure, will face degradation we can vaguely imagine. Having kids is continuity of civilization and science, a lack of kids, not oil, is what will send us to the dark ages.

I'm shocked to see the shrinking of population as a negative point. Looks like the only thing that matters is gdp. We keep forgetting that growing population creates greater need for natural resources, that people are going to be displaced from their land due to flooding or other natural disasters. The Earth doesn't matter as long as some big corporations are making loads of money selling us some crap that we don't really need and the gdp goes up.

some big *european corporations* fixed it for you. its strange how so many seem to be unable to identify the orchestrators of all modern human civilization when discussing the harm we endure but are very quick to take credit for any beneficial thing thats ever helped anyone before... its like getting punched in the face by someone for two hours straight then when you have to identify them in a police line up, and they look nothing like the others there, your eyes suddenly stop working because your emotional attachment to your attacker blinded your capacity for honesty.

I dug around a bit trying to figure out when this documentary was made, but I believe it is quite old for this subject. I put it aside at 11:52 of the one hour + program. Dr. Chan is the interesting character in this film and it would be interesting to hear his views of how so much has changed since Covid-19 became a household word, world-wide. What is discussed has relevance, but I found myself trying to shift from the film to our reality now. To quote Al Jolson, "you ain't seen nothin' yet!" How much will and how quickly change and morph in ways we can't imagine any better than futurists from the 1960s imagining the 21st century. So, please: update your film to match the film title, this transition has left already.

Most of developed countries including some developing ones have their fertility rate drop below 2. The incomes are falling or stagnant. It is very difficult to move up the economic ladder. Even buying a house requires mortgaging your kidneys. Will history repeat like in early 1900's when people turned to Communism and revolution dislodging monarchies and governments? I don't know. I am not saying people will turn to Communism now. But what is the response to current economic model which only allows you to live paycheck to paycheck? Most societies are aging rapidly. Today's young people are born not to live but carry the burden of the old.

The experts in this video are talking about 2019 as if it was in the future. When was this techno-fantasy documentary produced? Consider these failed predictions: - by 2022 solar + battery storage will reach a "tipping point" for households - also by 2022 EVs will see massive adoption (and they will be full self-driving) Who believes this stuff anymore? It's almost 2025 and I see Big Tech companies signing contracts with nuclear power plants to run their power-hungry data centers. For the last decade those companies were installing solar panels and bird blenders (oops! I mean wind turbines) so that they could pretend to be carbon neutral. But that was all a public relations stunt. Now they've tacitly acknowledged that wind and solar CANNOT generate sufficient/reliable energy to meet their near-term AI goals. Before you know it the green mask will slip completely off and they'll start commissioning coal plants to get more power.

This is a great observation. If someone is not happy with their job, and don't produce direct personal results, but instead rely on others to produce for them, is this not an economic drain on the system akin to welfare systems? If that person were to get replaced by someone more motivated, more intelligent and more effective, then the economy itself would benefit from the move more than cutting welfare systems. This then explains the politics of the rich and poor, and things the governments should be doing to prevent this.

The problem of transferring wealth from the wealthy to the government sector by taxation does NOT balance the playing field. The reason is because that wealth sequestered by government does NOT find its way to the poor, but stays in the bureaucratic state. For proof of that, one only needs to compare the growth of government and bureaucracy with the poor living in the streets. So an increase in rebalancing, begets an increase in poverty.

Also considering producers are all not workers but assumed to be workers. A nation must invest in reducing wealth inequality as it reduces theft and criminal behavior. If a nation wants to be a nation with low crime, they must end poverty and reduce inequality.

We don't have a shortage of younger workers; We HAVE a shortage of younger workers that WILL!!! work. i don't know about the rest of the world, but here in America it doesn't matter how much money you offer young people (under 30years old), they won't WORK. I know young people that have been offered $50 / hr or more and WON'T take the job.

In the 1950s the USA was a little over 2% of world population but the wealthiest. Now it’s over 3% and its dominance threatened. I don’t think importing more welfare recipients and 8th grade drop outs is going to increase our position on the global stage nor will it improve the quality of life for average citizens like me. In fact it just contributes to water shortages, housing shortages, traffic jams, pollution etc.

If wealth inequality is so unequal, then why would the rich become rich within the same generation if they were to give all of their wealth the bottom 20%?

The woold leaders have many challenges to confront. Safe borders, clean water, sustainable food sources, societies that can live in peace. Most definitely refrain from blowing each other up. Prosperity has to be for the many, not just the few. The next pandemic, when it comes will be worse. Populations immunity will be weakened.

A.I paired with A.R and robotics is going to remove boring mundane jobs. Service based jobs, where gratitude for human effort and interaction will remain along with most trades on a smaller scale will remain.

Isn't it time, all concerned governments undertake a program to ensure that the families among the lower income groups continue to expand say 3 to 4 children per family are maintained with government's assistance, especially true within the developing nations with a more centralized government.
