This is the 2022 BMW X2 with xDrive. I'm going to give you my review of this modern mid-level luxury SUV. It's cheap, fun, and fast, but how does it fair on the PITA score? This is the new BMW X2 and there are a lot of features you'll love and a few that you'll hate.

Just used one of these for 4 days driving it all around south Florida from coast to coast and man!! Coming from someone who daily drives a 2001 Mitsubishi lol this car was nice, smooth, grippy, speedy and overall a nice experience. I’ve driven plenty of newer cars ranging from Toyota, Chrysler, Chevy, ford, Honda, Nissan etc.. and none really left such a good impression on me. Was so pleased with the drive that I had to look the car up to see what it’s all about.

Having driven a 2004 Chevy Tahoe for the past 19yrs, I recently bought a 2019 BMW X3 sdrive30i having most of the features this X2 has and same color...what I can tell you guys is that these bimmers are light-years ahead of my time. The Turbo 4 allows me to zip through traffic when people in front of me are driving 20mph below the speed limit and causing congestion. I can understand what someone might think of them if they are coming from a toyota or has been changing their cars out every 2-4yrs for the past 20yrs, but for someone who came from driving only one vehicle made almost 20yrs ago, this thing is an amazing computer on wheels with more than enough power to zip through traffic (especially in sports mode).

You are right Michael, they really are wonderful to drive and are on another playing field in the fun factor. These are punchy and good response, good economy, quick transmissions that are reliable, and a compactness that allows for fun maneuvers. Maintenance is key and neglect is financially ruinous. Fun drivers though. Cheers

I went from a gen 1 facelift 2006 Mini Cooper S (R53) that I LOVED - to a brand new, off the lot, (also only thing I could find in 2021/22) X3 BMW - I did not love it as much as I should have and couldn’t understand why (what was wrong with me!!!??) I gave in and sold it with only 14,xxx miles. Bought myself an older X2 M35i and I have my beloved Mini Cooper experience back with a little extra. Still leather. Still a bit of bouge. Omg I love my car and I AM SO HAPPY. This video was excellent! Actually helpful and realistic. Best one I’ve watched on the X2. Thank you!

I've just purchased a top spec X2 2.0lt diesel xdrive 2 weeks ago and boy what a great little suv. I got the black and oyster interior trim package with heated electric front seats. It looks absolutely stunning and drives so well. The only critiscm I would have is the small trunk. Its a bit too small, but I do have the electric powered tailgate. TBH it's really great and sticks to the road so well. MPG is pretty good to at around 47mpg combined which I think is pretty good especially with the astronomically high fuel costs just now. So I'm really happy with it. So so far so good.

Great job with the review! Like the new format! So I had a 2020 BMW X2M40i and it was a blast to drive, so much fun especially in sport mode. The X2M40i has the same 2.0 liter turbo 4 but puts out 302HP along with more torque. Loved the car just didn't like the low headroom and mine had some turbo lag, but was a rocket once the turbo kicked in. I traded it in April for my X3M40i and I do like the X3 a little more, especially since it doesn't have the turbo lag. However, I have to admit that a part of me misses my X2! Keep up the great videos!!

Thank you so much Bill, yes moving up to the b58 engine will always be a treat. Either way yes are fun little utility vehicles that make good economy especially on the highway and the gearbox keeps things on the boil. This also had a bit of turbo lag, but this sporty trans keeps it moving quite well.

It's strange that BMW, who gained at least part of their reputation for being luxurious, would skimp out on some amenities especially compared with cheaper cars. I guess everything is an upgrade option nowadays. And I agree with you on the M badge - if it's not an M, it shouldn't have the badge.

My mom has the sDrive model of the X2. 228hp is pretty peppy for it, plenty of passing power, and it handles like a king. It's SUPER fun to drive, but it would be nice to see updated technology in the X2 like how the 3 series and X3 get it, instead of using "older looking" tech. Other than that, great car!

Mark, Just joined the BMW community, your videos have been so helpful. Just purchased my 2020 X2. Happy with it as my entry car. CPO and low miles. I think your 💯 about these blinds spots , but if you’re a good driver, no problem. The lane keep assist is lacking. Took me a while to realize the vibrating wheel was not the LA roads but actually the “warning”. Seems an audible warning option and a blind spot alert are still expected standards in this brand. I do not see a lot of these on the roads or a lot of videos , so be I’ll be staying tune for how these B48 engines do. What are your thoughts on buying the CPO service warranty AND/OR CPO maintenance plans? Seems worth the money but if I’m correct, it’s about $7K each for the full 7 year packages

@HDS32678
@HDS32678 5 ай бұрын
@@Nissy-w0920 it was reliable and trustworthy, didn't have any major issues until it got totalled in a rear end collision. I will say that when i did have to take it in it was more expensive. For example, I paid $1k CAD for a battery replacement because on the X2 the battery is underneath some stuff there's a bit of disassembly to get to it. But otherwise it was just tires and oil. Had one electrical gremlin of mirrors resetting themselves to the innermost position, but that was more of an annoyance than anything. Had a wheel bearing die a couple of weeks before it got totalled and that was replaced under warranty (wouldve been 1.6k CAD otherwise). I blame that on road quality too though. Part of the reason I picked the X2 initially was because of its Mini heritage and the implications of that for maintenance and costs, and I was pleased overall. I'd get another one (got an X3 as couldnt find an X2 that suited me quick enough).

My only disappointment was that it felt less like a 3 series than my 2013 (which makes total sense since it derived from the e9x body).

Great review, but to my opinion too much on the positive side. I guess you want to keep BMW on your side in order to be enabled to test other models. We had two of these BMW X2 cars during our recent 2.5 weeks car vacation in Canada (rented from Avis). My simple conclusion is: I would NEVER buy this type of car. The reason: 1. We had two standard suitcases and 2 airline-size carry-on bags: only the suitcases fitted in the boot, both bags had to live on the backseat during the whole journey because the boot is way too small. 2. On the 742 unhardened road in Canada near Grassi lake we got a "drive train malfunction" warning twice, just because of the slight bumps in the dusty road. 3. The GPS navigation screen is far too small. About 1/3 of the screen is wasted with showing duplicate info instead of a larger map. 4. The car has lots of electronics, but it really is overkill. It has far too many features especially when simply wanting a drive-and-go rental car. Even figuring out how to open the boot wasted us 15 minutes before discovering to have to topple the BMW logo on the boot. Mind you I love electronics, but this is just too much. 5. Operating the (useless) sunroof deserves a manual the size of the Bible. The car got very hot under the burning sun above. 6. Overall the car is far too small and does not deserve the SUV predication. 7. When GPS assisted navigation is switched on, the display no longer shows the exterior temperature. 8. The navigation could not find our Best Western hotel in Vancouver. It simply refused entering a house number at 1041 Marine Drive. 9. The steering is far too light and has a lag. I found myself constantly correcting the steering to keep the car going straight. Very tiring!!! 10. The fact that the unlock button on the remote only opens the front doors we found to be an irritating nuisance, especially because our camera bags were always on the back seat. It does have good power especially when overtaking on two lane roads. That's the main positive thing I can comment.

I live in north port Florida where hurricane Ian hit a few weeks back. I had a used 2019 m240i that I had for only 2 months. Was driving through 3in water to try and find some supplies and a huge pickup drove way too fast and created a 12inch wave that my car just gulped down.. destroyed my engine completely. Insurance called it a total loss. 45k Down the drain. My X1 also got damaged when evacuating and traffic directed us into another flood area I could not leave from because concrete dividers etc.. The engine sounds like crap now. So that’s two dead BMWs in one storm. They always say don’t drive through water because it might be much deeper and you could drown. No they should say don’t drive through even a few inches of flood water as it can drown your car. I learned my lesson.. it’s ok to point and laugh at me. It was stupid and it really hurt. I loved that m240i.. I think I’m safe now since we have had our 1000 year flooding event so…. I went out and bought a 2022 c8 corvette 2 days ago. With comprehensive insurance for idiots like myself. Keeping it high and dry. Be safe and never never never drive through even a teeny tiny amount of flood water. It can become a tidal wave in an instant if you live near rednecks who drive through flood waters like maniacs.

Almost brand new and I saved a ton of money but it is such a gas hog! With current gas prices, I wonder if I'll keep it for long and most probably go back to an Audi. My previous Audi A3 was such a camel in terms of gas! The X2 even with this small engine is still very fun to drive though.

Curious to know your thoughts on the Audi Q3. How would you rank it?
@ECPP
@ECPP Жыл бұрын
Hi, I hope to get my hands on one for a review in a while but in general it would rank a little lower than the BMW because reliability and value are similar but the performance and fun is a little less on the Audi as BMW brings a better driving dynamic. Stay tuned.

BMW is great when it comes to cutting costs, while increasing profit. Plastic components for your melting pleasure certainly cuts costs with simultaneously adding profit for dealerships at the service center. Toyota Rav4, available in four wheel drive has just as many bells and whistles backed up by proven reliability.

I am finding this a little bit confusing, your previous videos was resonable regarding the brand ( plastic fantastic - non reliable - oil leaks - engine break ) ... It is well known by its sudden malfunction however it is a famous luxury car which knows for sure that customers who are regular buyers don't care for the rapid replacement of their cars which tends to be annual this is about the brand , speaking about the review it was fun ,😂

These are not cheap. Run down high mileage ones are still higher in price vs. a similar run-down high mileage 3ers. In fact, 3 series or sedans in the bimmer line-up are a better buy if you want a cheaper Bimmer. The US market is all about SAV, crossovers, SUVs so these run higher in the used market.

This is why BMW cars have a better reputation for reliability in europe. They’re weaker, less posh cars here. Less electronics and most bimmers are less powerful than even this car. Such a shame they wount sell these in the united states. I think they’d be much better off selling ordinary cars than this super car thing.

BMW really has an uphill battle with their image here in the United States as an unreliable vehicle that costs a fortune to maintain and as it ages a money pit. They make SUV's but they seem too expensive to off road and get dirty. All that isn't necessarily true but they have had that reputation for so long that it will be hard to shake that. I own and daily a 2015 328ix drive with 40k miles and haven't had any issues, but that is still low milage.
