You’ve covered many issues with the eyes, but I can’t find any videos on Amblyopia, please explain it and what can be done other than patching the good eye as a child. LASIK isn’t an option… Thanks.

Are there exercises to help tighten the lower eyelid without resorting to surgery?
@MedicalCentric Жыл бұрын
there are some exercises that may help improve the tone and strength of the muscles around the eyes, including the lower eyelid. Here's a simple exercise you can try: Sit or stand in a comfortable position with your back straight. Close your eyes gently and relax your face. Place your index fingers on the outer corners of your lower eyelids. While keeping your eyes closed, gently lift your lower eyelids upward using your fingers. Hold this position for a few seconds (around 5-10 seconds). Relax and release the tension, allowing your eyelids to return to their natural position. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times, once or twice a day. It's important to note that the effectiveness of exercises for tightening the lower eyelid can vary from person to person, and results may not be as significant as surgical interventions. If you're concerned about the appearance or function of your lower eyelid, it's best to consult with a qualified ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon who can provide you with personalized advice and guidance based on your specific situation.

@@MedicalCentric Thank you so much for responding! I actually saw my eye doctor a few days ago due to tearing of my eyes. She told me I had a "loose eyelid" which I never heard about before. She said it happens due to aging. She also said that plus dry eye and small tear ducts are causing the tearing and my tears have nowhere to go to drain - thus the excessive tears. She gave me samples of Systane eye drops to use twice a day. I see her again in a month for a follow-up. If the drops aren't helping by then she'll prescribe prescription eye drops. I did ask her if there were exercises to strengthen my lower lids and she suggested blinking my eyes a lot but it was implied that really wouldn't do much for me. I looked it up online and that's how I found the term for "loose eyelids" (ectropion). She mentioned surgery would fix the problem but I'm in the mild stage of this right now - and I really don't notice that my lower lids are separating a bit from my eyes. I will try the exercise you suggested and hopefully it will help strengthen my eyelids. Again, thank you for your recommendation!

@@josephjoestar9025 Well, as it turns out I no longer go to that eye doctor practice. That doctor was a fill-in anyway and could not help me with the eye tearing. That doctor told me I had "loose lids" and my eyes teared excessively because they had nowhere to drain. Fast forward to today and now I've been successfully treated for my dry eyes with Restasis. This eye doctor is a specialist and said I don't have "loose lids" as the previous eye doctor said. So I don't have ectropion eyes after all. Just make sure you go to an eye doctor specialist who knows what they're talking about so you can be properly diagnosed. Good luck!
