I wish Chris would start his own channel. He's living the dream that many of us want, but don't really have the know how. I'll also add that it was a good thing he didn't stay in Tennessee. Talk about humid! Just an example, it's been in the triple digits for over two solid weeks here due to high heat index. Go outside at 3 am and it's still 90 degrees.

Hey Vanessa, I hear you there. Hot and humid can get pretty intense. I will suggest Chris start a YT channel and see if he'll go for it. He is a wealth of information, and I would certainly watch his channel so that I can gain that knowledge myself.

@@AbundantLivingEcuador hopefully he'll be open to the idea. I know sometimes people are hesitant to share info because they may be concerned about competition. But with the way the world seems to be going, all the more reason for people to work together, pool resources and build strong, resilient communities .

Thanks for featuring someone who isn't retired, and wasn't coming with good Spanish or lots of money

What a wonderful interview! Thank you both for being so conscious, wise, big-hearted, and real. My husband and I are planning to relocate and yes, we are beginning to learn Spanish :)

Glad I watched the video. Thank you, Jesse and Chris! Totally relate to Chris' risk taking and his approach to working with his workers (and with Ecuadorian people in general). I fell in love with Ecuador 18 years ago on my first visit...and made a mental note to retire there. Since then I have traveled back and forth 16 times and each time I liked it even more. Last year we bought some land outsite Giron (45 minutes South of Cuenca...overlooking the Yunguilla valley), and started building our forever home. Even though we are still in the US, our experience of working with the Ecuadorians so far has been exactly that of Chris. You trust the Ecuadorians and treat them with respect, they reciprocate in kind. Our architect and his mother and siblings have accepted us as part of their family! We have come to know every person who worked on the house - masons, plumbers, electricians, and carpenters. All of them! In some cases we even know their families. Really warm and simple people. During our last visit in December 21, our architect helped us organize a pig picking (as we call it in North Carolina) and we invited the whole crew over. We bought a few liters of Mapanagua (?) (a local sugarcane based brew which is quite potent) from a country store just down the road and drank it all together! It was a hoot. These guys have poured their hearts out on our dream home. My wife and I couldn't be happier and are really looking forward to living among them in rural Azuay a little over a year from now. Can't wait! Thank you again!

That about sums it up Amit. I am building my house right now and agree with what you're saying. They are a kind, simple, and hard working people group. We are enjoying our build project very much. I hope your time in rural Azuay is all you hope it to be and more come next year.

Chris and Jesse thank you for such a great video . This is helping us hone in on where and what we want when we move in June. We look forward to our adventure. I really like the information on growing crops and seeing different areas to look at when we are there. It’s nice to know , although we are not great at Spainish, we will probably be fine until we can learn more. Keep up the great videos !

I Would like a video on what expats are glad they brought with them and what they wished they would have brought with them if they could now. Like maybe Chris’s top ten tools to bring or something along those lines.

I fucking love this guy. I'm very close this ''mind'', too. Well, I'm off to make a burnt offering of a piece of banana to an idol of Jesse Bayer I've duly crafted with my ear wax.
