Ecuador with Cayambe Summit Climb

Just tried climbing it…. We used a private guide. Got to Ecuador on weds, did ruca pinch i ha on Thursday, then summit started at midnight last night. The altitude kicked my ass so no summit for me. Was the acclimization time very helpful? Seems that way. I slept in a hypoxico tent for a month as well and still wasn’t enough. Next time i am spending atleast 2 weeks here. Love alpine ascents though-your trip looked awesome. Cotopaxi is spewing ash right now unfortunately its closed indefinitely…

Alpine gave us a good amount of acclimation time ahead of Cayambe. I think we attempted Cayambe on day 7 after a few other lower climbs. It worked for me. Good luck on your next climb.
