Thank you!! Our pediatric dermatologist did recommend the same thing - blending half vanicream (he said it has the least amount of preservatives?) and aquaphor. Managing eczema feels like driving a car, you can’t tell someone the exact steps because the road condition is unpredictable. All you can do is observe and respond- more symptoms maybe push the gas pedal more and give it a break when things clear up. Eucrisa is astronomically expensive without good insurance but their website offers a coupon that can bring it down a bit if anyone uses that. Also when the doctor said after bath lotion up quickly, it means very quickly, we turn the air off in the room we do lotion in (the humid bathroom might be best) and i saw recommendation to finish the whole lotion process head to toes in 3 minutes 😅 o also a tip from the dermatologist cause we did it wrong initially - it’s good to put normal lotion on first then put the medicated lotion/cream because the normal lotion opens up the skin matrix and allow the medication to enter the skin more readily :) eczema can be so stressful and distressing for parents… hang in there 🌈

Also be extra careful if you have a cold sore which is caused by the herpes virus, if you have a relatively young kid it would be good to be very cautious around them during a cold sore outbreak. Spit can get to their face and cause the eczema herpaticum(?) which is heart breaking to see (many open sores popping up on their little body quickly) 🥺 thank goodness for antiviral but man you don’t want that for your little one…

Yes I agree my 4 month old had this and you are right it was heartbreaking to see it and even worse when her pediatrician didn’t know what it was and I had to curse the doctors office out to get a recommendation for a dermatologist

Thank you so much for this informative video! I am a FTM and just found out my baby girl has eczema since starting solids. What is your opinion on Mustela products and do you recommend them as a regular regimen?

Mustela is another common brand of eczema products. A lot of parents like the brand because it uses mostly natural ingredients. They are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. They are more expensive than some alternatives that also often work well, like aquaphor. Ultimately, the decision on a product often comes from personal preference or what works specifically for your baby. Best of luck!

My daughter had eczema. They finally determined she is gluten sensitive. If we avoid wheat and gluten, she goes months without breaking out. If she eats just a few bites, she breaks out within 30 mins.

O also, like doctor Mona said, if you do bleach bath don’t use anything BUT the original bleach (no fragrance ones, no anti splash one, just original) because these fancy ones just whiten clothes and are NOT disinfecting. Also if you live at different parts of the world pay attention to the bleach concentration cause US mainland you usually get the 7.5pct and here in Puerto Rico all bleach is 3.6pct. So you have to double up on what mainland US doc recommends. 😅

My baby had eczema. I stopped eating beef chicken and eggs during breast feed. Also i applied olive oil on his body daily. That helped it go away.

It is more likely than not having eczema in that some children with asthma and allergies did have eczema as children. There are a lot of variables like family history, environmental triggers, etc. The best this is to manage eczema effectively with emollients/ointments and follow up with pediatrician as needed

Won't the cream being rubbed in daily irritate the skin

No gently rubbing in the emollient/cream shouldn't irritate the skin. They are way more useful in sealing in the skin's moisture and decreasing dryness/irritation
