This documentary film explores the life and incredible work of longtime Charlottesville, Virginia-based artist, photographer and photojournalist Edwin S. "Flash" Roseberry (1925-2022). Ed chronicled the people, places and events in and around Charlottesville, at the University of Virginia, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello for three quarters of a century. His prolific body of work (now housed at UVA's Special Collections Library) is a powerfully unique historic archive that people will explore and enjoy for many generations to come.
This film was produced and edited by Coy Barefoot, based on the oral history interview that he conducted, with special thanks to some camera work by Joe Rice at the City of Charlottesville. This film was originally produced when Barefoot was the Executive Director of the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society and was screened publicly at the Vinegar Hill Theater in Charlottesville in 2019.
