Two of the sweetest sounds ever created by human beings, is the Ford Flathead V8 and a Merlin powered P-51 Mustang. Music of any kind can't measure up.

It ain't what it does, it's the way that it does it! That old flat head V8 sound is awesome. Not a lot of horse power but plenty of low down torque.

Is that a Frenzel supercharger modified to lay horizontal...??? Thats as rare as an honest politician in Washington...!!! I had a 34 Ford roadster in high school that I bought from a rod club. It had no engine !body was lowered over the frame but frame was no “bucked” over the rear axle. Body work was done thru primer so we painted it 58 Chevy Royal metallic Blue, fwd axle was chrome plated, backing plates were chrome ,radius rods were chrome!and FW was stainless steel. 8:00 x15 s on the back,6:00 x15 on the front. Engine was a stock 255 Merc with Fenton Heads and a two carb manifold( Str 94s) . We ran the dual pipes thru pick up truck mufflers and I thought it sounded “nerdy” ,not like yours...!!! Sad day when I called from college asked my kid bro to sell and send me the money for my book fees... $500 is all he got for it in 1962... no one wanted a flattie... they all wanted 327s...!!! Think what a steel bodied 34 would be worth today...!!! Scream...!!!!

You don’t have to have massive amounts of horsepower to be bad ass. That McCullough super charger and the sound is better than any I have heard.
@mcozpda33923 жыл бұрын
the sound of a flathead is very different from what one hears, I like the sound of a flathead, but how efficient is its torque and hp? And how difficult it is to get the parts for a flathead .. I would like to have one if I get it .. cheers

I wouldn't know if turbo flatheads are great for racing. it probably all depends on the handicap rules, but I think the concept makes a great deal of sense for moderate street performance, except for the fact that all automotive flatheads are antiques, so there is a argument for gentle treatment.

The coil and - especially - the fuel pressure regulator are flopping around too much to suit me. Only a matter of time before the metal fuel line (from the regulator to the carb) cracks.
