I actually think his design makes sense and fits while also being better than his previous design which felt over designed but going with a simpler urban boxer look works better for his character while also appearing to be more sickly than usual possibly due to the psycho power. I would have wanted other characters like Cody, Guy, Fei Long, or G but I can still appreciate his inclusion due to him having a strong importance in the story, his character, and the possibilities with his character.

Just scroll the comment section of any of the Ed trailers that have reached a broader audience and you will be able to find as much criticism as there is excitement. You know a character can be loved by some and rejected by others right? The Street Fighter audience is not a hive mind and never have I suggested it to be.

Top Hat purposely makes controversial statements and content for more engagement nowadays. No one, absolutely no one, said they were disappointed about Ed's inclusion. In fact, folks were more intrigued about his redesign in appearance and movesets. The issue has always been his SFV ugly design and/or his lame name Ed.

I didn't play Ed in SF5 but I find him to be quite interesting and there was room for him to grow. And sure enough it goes with him in SF6 where he has come to his own man and envelope all of the boxing traits with his use of psycho power he learn from his mentor Balrog.

I think ed is the right step. I know dudley has his fans, but lore wise ed is the correct choice as the next boxer, and he does look much cooler now except for the hair, he doesn't seem like the leader type though, I hope he passed that role to falke.

What is it with you calling Ed's design simple like it's a bad thing? Street Fighter's character designs have historical been pretty damn simple. For God's sake, up until SF6 Ryu and Ken were wearing the same raggedy old Karate Gis for almost 30 years. And Balrog, the man that raised Ed, up until SFV just wore a sleeveless blue top and blue shorts. To me, it just seems like you're looking for any reason to dislike the character.

From what I see, his gameplay video was very well received. I don't think there is much expectation of the Shadaloo King's to come back anymore except maybe F.A.N.G. as he's very interwoven in the story. M. Bison appears to be for all intents and purposes dead and not coming back. Street Fighter 6 seems to be all about the aftermath of his death and hints of a power struggle between JP and F.A.N.G. and Ed seems central to this. I expect however Balrog, Vega, Sagat and Bison to never return. I expect Dudley to return along with many characters that appear in SFIII like Alex, Ibuki and the Dragon brothers (Yun and Yang) If I were to guess Season 2, we would get Falke, Dudley, a brand new character and maybe an Illumanti character (Kolin?)

I'd like a new Capcom Vs SNK just to see Ed VS Iori. They're compare/contrastable. Both Edgy, have a malevolent power that can get to their heads, have a ...similar haircut... but Ed fights as a "free" person, while Iori struggles with the confines of his power (read:curse.)

I’m good with Ed because I am enamored with his gameplay (this time) and he has lore implications. I am not the biggest fan of his design, at least of his main costume, but his secondary is fire. I suspect given his lore and odd control scheme in V that Ed, like Luke, was always intended for Street Fighter VI and probably was supposed to be the real foil to Luke and maybe new antagonist.

I did not care for how Ed felt in V. After watching the gameplay vid for VI I am excited for him now. Maybe we will see Dudley in the story XD I would not mind having three boxers in VI, Balrog more as a tank grappler, Ed as a speedster and Dudly somewhere in between.

I was hoping for Dudely but his story i think came at an end in SF3 ....so i look forward to this revised ed and gonna use him until i see my mains Urien , Gill and Makoto make the cut. Conceptually Ed is way more interesting than the other 3 boxers and he has a lot more potential for an interesting moveset. Your options are regular brute force boxer, gentleman boxer, or psycho powered boxer, it’s very clear which option is the most interesting. And after seeing his moveset they made the right choice, he’s a traditional boxer who uses psycho power in ways that only a boxer would think of, like turning opponents into literal punching bags.

I've seen quite a few people reaction to Ed's gameplay trailer and they have been positive really. Ed has flaws in terms of design but his gameplay does look really impressive and it's nice that they made him a traditional boxer with some identity like the flicks as well as his powers rather than giving him kicks in SFV. This is coming from a person who wants to see Dudley come back by the way. But honestly I don't think Ed is a bad addition since he is still fairly new and there is another opportunity to improve his depth as a character. SF6 Aesthetics and what they are doing to characters like Ed surprisingly works. The biggest issues with the reveal is that Capcom made us wait a long while to see the trailer after getting AKI and of course pretty everyone wants to see Akuma. The Ed trailer was kinda hurt by these problems.

Ed vs JP is what I'm actually waiting for. Now Ed has a chance to punch someone who is like M. Bison. Hope they make their encounter worth it. I hope in Ed's story mode, he encounters everyone that is related to M. Bison and The Secret Society. Aki, Juri, Cammy, Ryu, Etch. with JP ending as the final boss. It would be cool if it is finally put into canon what Ingrid said about Psycho Powers - It's not really Evil, but, it does reflect the need of its user. Much like the Force. I don't mind if they also make Ingrid finally canon, which will make things more interesting, and her inter acting with Ed would be priceless. Imagine a peppy annoying an Emo.

I’ve never played street fighter but I like seeing gameplay and I liked Ed in SFV reminded be of a mma fighter with boxing as their base. Now in SF6 he looks amazing gameplay wise and his overall design is better (I just HATE the haircut) I love boxing and you can clearly tell how he’s a pure boxer now. They gave him the Ali shuffle, bobing/weaving, flickers and incorporating a double end bag as his finisher looks amazing.
