𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙨𝙧𝙖𝙚𝙡, and was handed down from generations to generations 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 and 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Therefore, 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘆 or to 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, which tells us 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗬𝗛𝗪𝗛 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 His first chosen people, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 (a faithful and law-abiding Jew, the long-awaited Messiah, who was expected to be a descendant of King David- a promise God made to David and to Abraham). Also, 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵. For the Lord Jesus Christ established a new and everlasting covenant (the fullfilment of God's promises in the Old Testament), and for us to fully understand what that means, we must first learn to acknowledge and understand what the Old Covenant was about. The Lord Jesus said: (John 5:46‭-‬47) "𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲, 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨?” (Matthew 5:17‭-‬20) “𝗗𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘁𝘀. 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙛𝙞𝙡. 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘯, 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘸, 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦. Therefore, 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗯𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻. I tell you, 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗲𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻." (Matthew 5:17‭-‬20) So then how are we supposed to interpret and understand the Scriptures correctly and in accordance with the faith that was revealed? The 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 (Matthew 16:18) and his successors (the popes), and this Church was instituted by Christ Himself 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 what He has given to us during His public ministry on Earth.- 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 and 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 that Jesus has entrusted to us. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵- so that we can know for sure that the faith has not been corrupted through time and space. And so you are right, Pastor Ed, in saying that it can be 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 to read the bible 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, because not even your interpretation could be regarded as authoritative in teaching. The scriptures 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 and interpreted 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝗮𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀 (such as the popes and the bishops), also known as the 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵, which is the same 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 that 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 and 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 the very 𝗯𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 that 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. It is the only way that we can be certain that 𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁, and not according to our personal, finite, and fallible human understanding. 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 and 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 of God's divine revelation. You won't find that teaching anywhere in the bible, because while it says that "𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙙 and is 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness"(2 Timothy 3:16), 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 that 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮. In fact, the scripture explicitly says that it is "𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗼𝗱" which is "𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝."
