I'm not an American. But it truly is an honor to be in the presence of the Col, even if it's through a video. The men of Toccoa were something special.

I lived near Taccoa and met many amazing PIR men at the annual reunion. Amazing men. To copy Tom Selleck as Ike: We may never see their like again.

I just visited Camp Toccoa and went up Currahee mountain, which was a surreal experience to say the least! This video was so awesome and I wish I would have been there when these events were taking place! I also wish there were more videos like this which interview the guys in the places they trained and fought. This is gold!

Truly the greatest generation! I always stop what I’m doing to listen to their words of wisdom. They defeated the two great evils of German Nazis and Imperial Japan. I’m proud to have been raised by the greatest generation and been surrounded by them most of my life. I cherish all they have taught me. I miss them very much. 😆😆🇺🇸🇺🇸

The boots they had on are desert boots. (Modern era.) I dont think you can spit shine them. They were not regulation in his day, or mine. That's what he was referring to.

@~Steve~ ,m jump boots have no tread, and are useless in the field. Not to mention the cold. Jump boots are for parades, not combat...

I have ONE Question! Who are the 5 “knuckleheads” who downvoted this fine man’s video!
@JamesBray-qm8gr-q3w5 жыл бұрын
They did a disservice to COL Shames in Band of Brothers! You can tell even so late in years in this video, that he was a tough son of a bitch and great leader and officer! In the HBO series they said he always yelled. But there are times when that is required to get men moving when artillery or other deadly fire is raining down on them in combat !!! Thanks you for your Service!

Those girls singing at the end was pretty bad. It's like they were scared to project their voice and not singing loud enough and they are out of tune with their harmonies. It's almost like they are scared and timid. Big red riding hood on the right needs to run Curahee a couple times lol.
