I wanna pull an Ed Sheeran someday and just take a year break from social media (take note, SOMEDAY) but I really enjoyed this video, because he talked about how time consuming social media can be (is) and how we as humans can't really make time for creativity because of our cluttered brain

anita dutoit I don't know how much you use social media, but it's not really hard to unplug. The most annoying thing about doing so is that you'll miss a lot of trending amusing videos and gossip. If your friends are really friends, you'll have their numbers or see them a lot, so no loss there. Most of social media is just random thoughts, pictures, and videos that are being tossed into the eternal black void that is the internet. Its nice to take all that extra time for yourself back, and do other things you enjoy and find new interests.

TeaNCoffee the thing is, I spend a lot of time on social media since I am homeschooled and have literally no friends. I'm fine though, but I constantly say my phone is my best friend and that's actually not a joke. but I have said I want to be less on my phone, and more into thi.gs I enjoy doing outside the devil called the internet

anita dutoit That makes sense. I'm in the same situation because I'm in college but I recently moved back home so my friends are all over the country or busy with work, internships, or school work. Personally, I know that I can't *completely* disconnect from all social media. I don't use social media a lot in the first place- just to keep up with friends and celebrities- but I've narrowed it down to the *one* thats the most useful in my opinion- KZbin. Plus, it's really easy to not use KZbin as a social network- just don't comment on anything. You can wean yourself off first, use certain sites for less amounts of time, then stick to just a few. I mean think about how much time you and the average person spend on the internet- all that time can be spent learning some useful life skill ( like how to fix a car, how to alter clothes), teaching yourself how to play an instrument, becoming knowledgeable about anything you want, exercising, or just enjoying life.

Its actually really good to not have social media! I used to have Instagram and Twitter, but I don't go on anymore. It's been 2 years since I've been on them. Thinking of deleting them. Not accepting any of the new social media stuff that's been coming out as of late. Haven't been checking my KZbin comments and stuff either ever since Google messed up the comment system. Only have Facebook for my close friends and family so I can stay in touch with them, but I don't go on my Facebook either to post. It's weird at 1st, but your brain starts functioning better and you are less stressed out in the long run.

Gabriele Gomes I get you but KZbin and Facebook for example are two totally different monsters. It's cool to unplug. I do it every so often because it destroys my ability to be truly social & I think human interaction is still very important. I realize too many people run behind their screens to tell someone something important or when they are face to face they can't muster up the right words or can't look you in the eye while speaking. Social media is a gift and a curse. I feel as long as you don't let it consume your whole life you should be fine. All in moderation. 😊
