apparently when you book tickets you can tell your story for the red chair thingy. so that story wouldve been fun to hear even if ed wasnt on the show at that time. some producer probably contacted him after he booked tickets and got him to come when ed was on the show, so it was nice for ed to reunite with a friend and it made good tv as well. nothing super secretive about it, imo. would be pretty much almost impossible to have that as a coincidence.
