I've not seen anyone talking about how the song seems to be about the pandemic? the lyrics talk about 'cancelled holidays' and 'plans to cross the world' but ends up stuck in the UK, the stores opening and closing like during lockdown, not being able to see friends, and of course takeaways and binge watching TV. So 'holding out for spring' can represent the hopes for when the pandemic and the 'winter' sadness ends, and life can go "back to normal" 😅
