It's a song written about his grandmother from his mom's perspective, if I remember correctly.

Yeah it's from his mom's perspective about her mom dying. She did an interview about Ed & there is clips of that in the video.

Cried like a baby when I first heard this. This is in the perspective of his mom about her mom. Ed Sheeran is a great interview. He tells the best stories. He’s actually really funny.

This is about Ed's grandma in his Mom's perspective. I too initially thought this was about his mom. Anyway, your reaction and words are so genuine. Thank u. This is my mom's theme song in her wake and funeral.

This song absolutely means the world to me, I lost my mom July 25th 2019, she was trying to get sober and her body shut down, she was hospitalized for weeks, this song tears into my heart every time I hear it! I miss my mom so much, thank you billy for reacting to this, I really needed this today. 💛

I am a huge Ed Sheeran fan but I honestly think that even if I wasn't I would love this song. It is absolutely beautiful and I really think its something that we can all relate to. This song always makes me think of my dad and, while it does make me cry like a baby, it gives me an odd sense of comfort. Another great (in my opinion) Ed Sheeran song is I See Fire. It isn't really emotional but it is an absolute pleasure to listen to. If I remember correctly, he wrote and recorded that song in one day for the Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug movie.

He is as you said, a brilliant song writer, but if you see the interview, you feel like he could be coming and hanging out at your house. He makes his fans feel like you could be best friends. As Aimee said, its for his grandmother from his moms perspective. Song meant a lot to me when my mom passed from cancer. So beautiful! If you want to check to other side of Ed, You Need Me, I Don't Need You! Got to do the one from the live room, its sheer genius!

my grandmother passed away march 10th to cancer . this song was played at the funeral . it was my stepmothers mom. she had 8 grandchi;dren and ive been the closest to her lately. im still fighting to be okay, in october i saw her in the hospital almost on her death bed ad she got better and fought for the 4th time but then in january after they came back from florida she got worse again and it was really bad . the day before she passed and i got asked to go see her but didnt because i hurt to much knowing her time was almost up. the next day i was on the bus and got the call and had to come home to an empty house and i had a anxiety attack and i regreted not going over the night before but i realized that she was as bad as when i saw her in the hospital and i realized i would rather remember the good times rather than when she was that sick.

Aimee is right. He wrote it about his grandmother from his mom's perspective. He either explained it at the concert I went to or there was an interview where he talked about it. You said he's so good at expressing his feelings with his songs and reminded me of another favorite. This is a live version of How Would You Feel (Paean). Its a song he wrote for his wife who was his girlfriend at the time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYqXaGagdtWnr9k
