Elton John does actually know Ed Sheeran very well and has performed with him several times over the years plus Ed was signed to his management team for several years but Ed's own manager Stuart (who has been with Ed before his released his debut album) recently left to go Independent.. Elton might have been pronouncing shee-ran as a joke because of lot of the public still pronounce it that way...

I truly delighted the music style of Ed Sheeran since the first time i have been hearing. He has brought an exquisite taste into music world. There are also other musicians delivering unique songs such as Kygo. However, Ed produced way more thrilling songs than "Shape of You." If you truly are discriminating and bear such an exquisite taste of music, you will realize that "Shape of You" is nothing more than your daily songs in comparison with his heart stopping "Give Me Love", tantalizing "Thinking Out Loud" songs for instance. You might respond like "They are older than Shape of You." That is true but still does not change the fact its not that much exciting compared to such enticing songs belonging to him.
