I should know I have a Squirt PS4 with broken scissor spring. Better off buying a Knipex Cobra XS and carrying that with an SAK. Both will last you a lifetime.

While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal kzbin.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal.There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.

Only owned a Dime and I have no problems with it for what it's generally used for which is a light weight option for outdoor activities. My favourite objects to loose out there are small flashlights, spoons/sporks ect and small multitools (Victorinox and the like). I'd be more annoyed if I lost a Leatherman than a Gerber and the Gerber does the job.

I looked into getting the Dime and Vise but in the end plumped for a Squirt PS4 when I saw it on sale and I'm glad I got it. It is my pocket EDC (when I carry a bag I carry a larger multitool) combined with a SAK - normally Hiker or Farmer - or a folder like the Bokerplus Atlas, or sometimes all 3 together. The small scissors on the Squirt are up to most jobs and almost but not quite as good as the Victorinox equivalent. Talking of which I think a better item than a Micra for a small first aid kit is the small 58mm Classic SD from Victorinox.

1 year on my opinion on the Squirt has changed drastically. The play in the scissor blades got so bad they were no longer able to cut much, then the spring broke. Fecking useless. If I send it in for warranty I get a Micra back as the Squirt is discontinued, the reason being Leatherman had to constantly replace them so they were losing money. I'd advise anyone looking at these to reconsider and buy Knipex Cobra XS and a SAK of their choice, even a Rambler, because that gives you better tools and both will last you a lifetime.

The awl is super handy for us Electronics Hobbyists. We use it for making & enlarging holes in plastic cases for switches, sockets & LED's. The Leatherman awl beats the SAK awl as it's better for corners due to not having a T shape when deployed.

Best for electronics WAS leatherman's squirt ES4.. don't know why they discontinued it, had wirestrippers where the pliers are.. thankfully I ownn two, but they're just about impossible to find now.

Wild. So I just bought a Honda ADV 150 and was watching some vids about it and came across your channel. While checking through the rest of your videos I noticed I had already watched this one about a year ago, it was instrumental in helping me pick a squirt over a micra or dime. I guess certain types of people are attracted to certain types of gear, or small bike people like small multi tools. or something, I dont really have a moral to this story.

I have a few of the larger leatherman and and Gerber tools the a leatherman micro on my car keys and interesting little multi tool I have got a few months ago is the Xiaomi NexTool, nicely featured but a really good set of pliers and perhaps the best scissors I have seen on a small multi tool, it’s worth a look.

Nice review. I own(ed) Dime and Squirt, Dime was really crappy, only the cap remover was really good. PS4 is good, the pliers can cut 2mm metal wire with no problem and no marks on jaws. All tools on it are good.

I have the Leatherman Squirt PS4 in black ,it is the best mini multi tool . The pliers ,the knife ,file & dual flat blade Phillips & normal small flat is brilliant & handier than you would think ,the bottle opener needs a bit of jigging around to lift bottle caps . If you add a SAK hiker you are more or less covered for EDC tinkering & small on the spot repairs & bodgery situations to pull you & others out the Sh💩

@@WildStuff They were flogging Hikers at U.K. on line store with standard red scales for around £13 U.K. a couple of years back . Real bargain ,I also have the Silver Alox scaled Farmer ,A very rare silver scaled Electrician ,a red scaled Walker & a red scaled Wenger officers knife . Collecting SAK ‘s & Leathermans can become a habit & get out of control .👍

@@maskedavenger2578 Lol I know every couple of months I have to scratch that itch on a quest for a perfect EDC. My advice is buy a Swisschamp, it fits nicely in the 5th pocket. Combine that with Knipex Cobra XS and a one handed/locking folder e.g. Spyderco and you have a better toolset than a Wave. May cost a few quid more though lol.

I used to do that then the scissors spring on the Squirt broke & I can't replace it as they are discontinued. Better to carry a model with scissors or scissors and saw and carry it with Knipex Cobra XS. Or buy a Swisschamp...and still carry it with Knipex Cobra XS. Bear in mind where I am a Swisschamp only costs £8/$10 more than a Squirt if you can still find one so it's a no brainer.

@@simonh6371 Not into the Swiss champ prefer the less bulkier SAK ,& definitely not into spyderco type knives . It’s illegal to carry a knife with a locking blade public in the U.K. . You are only allowed a non locking bladed folder with a blade no more than 3inches .You have to have good reason to carry a fishing or camping knife & even then it has to be deep in your tackle box or ruck sack . It’s also depends on the police ,they get around the law by saying you are in possession of a bladed object in public . The only other Leatherman I own is a low priced Wingman ,which I reckon is made in China ,as it doesn’t have made in the USA stamped on it .. . I also have a Alox Farmer ,a very rare Alox Electrician ,A red scaled Walker ,the Hiker & a Wenger Swiss officers knife ,plus a selection of Moras ,Bacho wrecking knife ,Hultafors craft knives & hunting axe ,but a lot of those are not legal EDC in the U.K. . I don’t buy high end knives ,they are just tools to me 👍

I'm not planning to pull mine apart to find out, but it does appear that if you had the correct little star-shaped Allan key, you could possibly disassemble it.

Be VERY careful, some people have found that Gerber China uses crazy amounts of Loctite on the screws making them snap when you try to undo them. You could do it more safely by heating it up with a hair dryer or paint stripper first 👍

The Squirt PS4 is the clear winner for me. Though I could see myself swapping it out for the Micra on occasions, eg. long thru-hikes, for the scissors when patching up a blister.

From experience, I'd have the say the Leatherman Squirt series. I've had the blue Squirt P4 on the left in this video for decades, and the pliers would easily be my most-used tool. The pliers on the PS4 are identical and I expect to get a few more decades of use out of them.

I've been using the Squirt PS4 for 13 years. Use it constantly. I love it and it has always been in my pocket. Hasn't rusted but I have used it under ideal conditions. I found the Micra just too clumsy to use.

It varies from week to week depending on how much commission Dwight earns from his paper sales, but generally you take the USD value and add a bunch more to get the AUD equivalent (at the moment $1AUD = US ~70 cents).

I have had a Dime multi tool and like what has already been mentioned, you need another multitool to get the tools out of the Dime. I have tried WD40 and I still can't get the tools out!

I’ve had 2 dimes one for over 10 years in black and when I was squeezing a fishing weight the plier retention bar bent out of place now the pliers won’t work 🥺

@@WildStuff gerber asked for some pictures of the damages, a picture of the weights I used on my fishing pole, and asked if I still had the receipt (which I always save until I throw something out) and then emailed me back that they can send me a new one since the failure wasn’t my fault :)

I tried picking up the dime and as soon as I opened it in the parking lot of the store, I went back to return it. It was almost impossible to open the tools without nearly prying my finger nails off. It felt really cheap and poorly designed.

I've had 2 Dimes, and the one was definitely stiffer than the other. My feeling is quality control is lacking more than design quality... except the pliers seem really flimsy

This video is about my small collection of sub-$100AUD Leatherman and Gerber keychain-sized multi-tools (ie.- based on a central pair of pliers or scissors, as opposed to a traditional pocket knife). I'm not aware of any Victorinox multi-tools in this size or price category. I'd be very interested if there was though.

Haha no, I can assure you it's in multiple pieces. I was tightening a car battery terminal with the mini-pliers and forgot to pay attention to where the keys were dangling. A circuit was formed and KABOOM! Blew them right out of my hand. The keys went one way and the Leatherman went the other, and I had a nasty burn on the side of my finger.

Yes, they can be frustrating at times, though they have saved me occasionally when they were all I had available. I've got a "Super Tinker" Swiss Army Knife on order which has a full size Phillips head screwdriver on it that should be a bit more substantial.

The one on the Squirt is shit, it's made from cheese...not a soft runny cheese like Camembert or Brie, that would be absurd, more like Emmentaler or Gruyere. Every time I used it it got burred on the edges. If I use it too much it will disintegarte. Which I won't as the scissors spring on it broke now so it's no longer worth carrying. Just carry a Knipex Cobra XS with SAK of your choice preferably with scissors, a Super Tinker and a Knipex Cobra XS where I am together cost the same as or less than a Squirt.
